Our new student and 9th grade orientation will be held on Thursday, August 22nd from 8:30am-11:45am. Information regarding the event was mailed home to families last week. The mailing also included the bus stops and times for orientation day. To help with planning for the event, the flyer information is included in this message (however you will still need to check the bus schedule that has been sent in the mail for your bus stops/times).
Welcome to Annandale!
Dear New Student/Freshman and Parents,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to Annandale High School. I hope you have had a wonderful summer, and that you are looking forward to starting high school.
Although it is an exciting time, it can also be a stressful time as you begin school in a new building, with new classmates, new opportunities and new rules. In an effort to relieve some of the stress, we are conducting a New Student/Freshman Orientation on August 22nd from 8:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. You will have the opportunity to meet some of the people you will be working with for the next four years as well as to learn about the many programs and opportunities at Annandale. It is a program you will not want to miss. You will have the chance to go through your schedule and to meet your teachers, so please be sure to bring your schedule. Schedules can be picked up at our Packet Pick Up Event on Wednesday, August 21st between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. We will have copies of schedules at the orientation in case you misplaced or forgot your schedule.
Parents are also invited for an orientation on August 22nd. While the students are participating in their program, parents are invited to an “open-house”. Refreshments are available while you hear about Annandale from current parents of students as well as key staff members. This PTSA/Student Services sponsored reception offers you a chance to ask other parents and staff questions about their experiences.
Buses will run on August 22nd beginning at 7:30 a.m. Please check the bus schedule enclosed to find the nearest bus stop to your home. (This is the “late bus” schedule for the school year). Parents are encouraged to let students ride the bus and to drive themselves. When students arrive at Annandale, they will be guided to the auditorium where the program will begin. Annandale is a “no hat” school, and all school rules will be in effect. Students will attend an information session in the auditorium, go through their schedule, find their classrooms and meet their teachers. They will end up in the gym for a pep-rally and their first Class of 2023 picture. From the gym, students will be directed to the busses to return home. However, parents may pick up their student in the gym.
Annandale’s Packet Pick Up will be held on Wednesday, August 21st from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria and will host a variety of activities. All students will pick up their 2019-2020 class schedules, information packet and locker assignments. In addition, students and parents will have the opportunity to sign up for various activities.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, August 22nd at 8:30 a.m.
