Breakfast

We will have breakfast this year and it will begin on Tuesday August 27, 2019.  Breakfast will begin at 8:20am.  Breakfast is for student only.

Kiss and Ride Information

During the first weeks,  it might take a little longer to help our students learn how to exit and enter their cars quickly.  We know many of you have filled out your Kiss and Ride information.  You will receive your number, if you already do not have one, as quickly as we can.  We ask that you please display it for staff to easily identify.

As a reminder students should only be entering and exiting cars from the passenger side of the vehicle. We ask that you plan accordingly as our line can be long, once it starts moving it does move rather efficiently.  During the first few weeks please allow extra time as students are learning the routine.

We thank you in advance for your flexibility and help with ensuring the safety of the children.

Visitor Management System

We use a visitor management system in our main office in order to ensure the safety of our students and staff during the school day.  You will need your photo identification each time you enter the building during school hours beginning August 27, 2019.

On August 26, 2019, you can enter any door to come in the building to walk your child to class.  We ask that you say good bye at the door and allow your child to begin their day.  The PTA ill host a Boo Hoo/ Yahoo gathering in the Cafe to say hello to other families and ask question or connect with the PTA.  This is not a meeting, just an opportunity to meet new families before you start your day. Staff will sweep the building at 8:45am so we can begin our day of fun and learning!

Transportation

Transportation should have sent you an email already.  Please know that in the first weeks of school transportation keeps track of the number of students riding the bus to determine our needs for the remainder of the year. If you have any questions or concerns please contact transportation at 703-446-2050.

New for 2019: FCPS Now Using the Here Comes the Bus Mobile App

To help you know when your child’s bus is approaching your stop, FCPS is now using the Here Comes the Bus mobile app, starting on August 26. Here Comes the Bus is a free school bus tracking app that can simplify morning and afternoon routines for parents and students by giving real-time bus location and text or email notification alerts, helping everybody get to the bus stop on time.

Here Comes the Bus® uses FCPS global positioning system (GPS) data and an easy-to-use customizable map that works on one or multiple devices, such as a tablet, smartphone, or desktop computer.

Parents can download the app now for free from the App Store or Google Play. You will need the FCPS school district code 28982 and a Student Information System (SIS) Parent Account (contact your child's school if you do not have an SIS Parent Account). Once signed in, you can customize or edit features, including how the app will communicate with you, and the size and location of the notification radius around your child's bus stop.
