Following is a repeat of information sent to all families via eNotify on Monday, August 5 and via News You Choose on August 12.  If you have already completed and printed forms, please note that a few additional "optional" links have been added regarding SCA, Civics Learning Hours, and our Veterans Day program.

 

Dear RCMS Families,

Our annual Panther Palooza will be Thursday, August 22, 2019, 9:00AM-2:00PM. This is your opportunity to visit the school, turn in required forms, pick up your class schedule and receive your locker assignment and combination. All students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

As this is an open house event, we remind you that you are invited to come any time during the hours posted. It has been our experience that the excitement of the day naturally encourages families to be here as soon as the doors open. However, please note that this could be the busiest time of the day, with forms turn-in lines being long, and parking being at a premium.

Before arriving at Panther Palooza, please have the following ready to turn in:

Please note: The 2019-2020 Student Rights and Responsibilities is currently undergoing revision and will be distributed to students at the beginning of the school year. At that time, parents will be asked to review the handbook with their child and return the acknowledgement of receipt signature page. 7th Grade Orientation (Students Only)

(also open to 8th Graders who are new to RCMS)

Orientation for all 7th graders is scheduled for Friday, August 23rd from 9:00-11:00AM. During orientation, students will briefly rotate through each class, meeting their teams and teachers.  Students should bring their schedules with them to Orientation, but do not need any other school materials.  Students also will be able to access their schedule via StudentVue. 

Bus schedules for the orientation are below.  Students will board the bus at their neighborhood elementary school and return to that same location according to the times below.  Please note the bus schedule for Orientation is an abbreviated schedule and will not be the same as the schedule for the school year. 

Buses depart for RCMS

Coates Elementary – 8:30 a.m.

Crossfield Elementary- 8:30 a.m.

Floris Elementary – 8:30 a.m.

Fox Mill Elementary – 8:30 a.m.

Hunters Woods Elementary – 8:30 a.m.

Lees Corner Elementary — 8:30 a.m.

McNair Elementary – 8:30 a.m.

Navy Elementary – 8:30 a.m.

Oak Hill Elementary- 8:30 a.m.

Please plan on arriving at the elementary school approximately 10 minutes prior to the scheduled bus departure time. If your student’s elementary school is not listed, your student can go to the nearest school from the above list. Buses will depart

Rachel Carson Middle no later than 11:10 AM to return students to the elementary school where they were picked-up in the morning.

Are you going to miss Panther Palooza and/or  Student Orientation?

If you are unable to attend these events, student class schedules will be visible in SIS ParentVue and SIS StudentVUE on Thursday, August 22.

Students who need a copy of their schedule and/or their locker assignment will be directed to report to the Library at the start of school on Monday, August 26.
