Dear Panther Families,
We are eager to begin an amazing new school year. The custodians have been working hard to get the building sparkly clean and the county had our parking lots repaved and lined. It is exciting to see everything refreshed.
Just another reminder that Open House is next Thursday (8/22) from 2:00-3:00pm. That is a great time to bring your school supplies, see the classroom, meet the teachers and catch up with friends. Please be on the lookout for the teacher placement emails after 4:00 today.
A great deal of time, effort and thought has gone into the process of student placement for the 2019-2020 school year. Careful consideration was given to input from staff and families, as well as student learning styles. Classrooms have been balanced academically and socially. Our class lists are structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level. Moving students is difficult without causing imbalances and inequities.
Thank you so much for being positive with your child and helping him or her understand that it is impossible to place all students with a preferred best friend or teacher. ALL of our staff works hard to make school a positive experience for ALL students. Poplar Tree is eagerly looking forward to enriching your child’s life. Thank you for understanding that it can take a few weeks for a child to acclimate to a new grade, peer group and teacher. We are all so excited to see the students next week!

Staff for the 2019-2020 School year- We are so excited to have such an amazing team here at Poplar Tree. We have some new faces to Poplar Tree, some familiar faces in new places and some familiar faces in the same places. Please check out the Meet Our Staff section of the PTES Webpage which lists the staff members on each team.
Open House- Please plan to attend our Open House on Thursday, August 22 at 2:00pm. At the Open House, you are welcome to visit your child’s new classroom, meet the teacher, and join the PTA!
First Day of School- The first day of school is Monday, August 26. Poplar Tree’s school hours are 8:40-am-3:25pm, Monday through Friday.
Back to School Nights- Poplar Tree Back to School Nights are an adult only time for parents to hear from the teachers about the upcoming school year. The Back to School nights are Wednesday, August 28 for grades K-2 and Tuesday, September 3 for grades 3-6.

August 30 and September 2: Labor Day Holiday, No School
September 3: Back to School Night, 3rd-6th grade, 6:00-7:30pm
