Dear Greenbriar West Families,
If you are new to Greenbriar West, welcome! If you will be returning, welcome back! We hope that you all have been enjoying summer. It’s hard to believe that school is just around the corner! We have been preparing for an awesome 2019-2020 school year. As you begin to prepare your family for the start of the school year on Monday, August 26, we wanted to share some important information with you about upcoming GBW events and information:
GBW Web Site – Supply lists and other relevant information are posted on the Greenbriar West web page at: http://www2.fcps.edu/GreenbriarWestES/. Our website is a great source of information throughout the year.
Teacher Assignments – Student homeroom class assignments will be e-mailed to parents by the end of the day on Wednesday, August 21.
Open House/ Back-to-School Day–Students and parents are welcome to come to our Open House/Back-to-School Day on Friday, August 23. Students and parents first come to the Open House to meet the classroom teacher and classmates, then students will be escorted to a supervised activity elsewhere with specialists while parents stay in the room for information from the teacher. Here are the designated times for the grade levels:
9:00 First Grade and Second Grade
10:30 Third Grade and Fourth Grade
12:00 Kindergarten
1:30 Fifth Grade and Sixth Grade
For Kindergarten Students & Parents – There will be a playdate, Pandas and Popsicles, for you to get to know one another. It will be on Monday, August 19, at 3:00pm, at our Panda Park playground. If you stand in front of GBW facing the school, Panda Park is the playground to the left.
More beginning-of-the-year information will be provided in the upcoming weeks. Of course, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our main office at 703-633-6700. The first day of school is Monday, August 26! We are excited for the start of another school year and look forward to seeing you soon.
