CVHS Community,
We have added a new assistant principal and counselor given our increasing student enrollment. I am pleased to introduce Mr. Drew Campbell as our new assistant principal. He is coming to us from Key Middle School in FCPS where he was an assistant principal for the past three years. Mr. Campbell was also an assistant principal, English teacher, and English department chair at Carl Sandburg Middle School. He began his teaching career in the Bronx, NY where he taught 11th and 12th grade English at Eagle Academy for Young Men. A native New Yorker, he earned his undergraduate degree from SUNY Geneseo and a Masters degree from Columbia University. He completed his Educational Administration and Supervision coursework at the University of Virginia. Mr. Campbell is excited to return to the high school level, and he brings a great wealth of instructional and administrative experience. We are excited to have him join the team. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Drew Campbell to the Wildcat family!
I would also like to introduce Ms. Allison Warren as our new school counselor. Ms. Warren was also a school counselor at Mantua Elementary School and most recently at Centreville Elementary School. Mrs. Warren earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Virginia Tech. She lives in our community and is excited to continue her work in the Centreville pyramid while on the high school level. We are also excited to have Ms. Warren join the Wildcat family.
Congratulations to Ms. Amy Balint on recently being hired as an assistant principal at South Lakes High School. Ms. Balint has given over 13 years of tremendous dedication to CVHS as an assistant principal, instructional coach, math teacher, and parent. CVHS is a better place because of her hard work and commitment to this community. While we will certainly miss her, the transfer to South Lakes is a wonderful growth opportunity for her to gain experience and make an impact in a new school community. Given her departure, we have already begun the process for hiring a new assistant principal.
The changes in enrollment and staff have forced us to make some adjustments to the subschool assignments and alphabetical caseloads of both administrators and counselors. Please see below for the new subschool assignments. We recognize that this will cause a shift with some of our students in regards to who they will have as an Assistant Principal and School Counselor as compared to last year. In the long term, the additional staff will allow us to balance and lower the caseloads for the sub schools so they can better serve the needs of our students. It is important that we maintain the balance created by the reorganization. Respectfully, we will not be switching students back to their previous Assistant Principal or School Counselor. The sub schools will be working together to help ease the transition for those students who will be affected.
Sincerely,
Chad R. Lehman
