Graham Road Community Gazette

Graham Road Community,

It is with great pleasure that I write this email to you as the Acting Principal of Graham Road Elementary School.  It is truly an honor to become part of the Graham Road community this summer during the search for your permanent principal.  I have heard great things about the students and families of Graham Road and look forward to supporting the transition.

For the past three years I have been an administrator in FCPS at Glasgow Middle School.  Before my time at Glasgow, I spent 10 years working in several different roles and elementary schools in Arlington Public Schools and two years in Alexandria City Public Schools as an Assistant Principal.  Outside of school, I am a mom of three boys, wife and mom to a fluffy doodle Bailey.  If I am not chasing boys from one event to another, I enjoy hiking on the weekends and being near the water.

I am looking forward to seeing your student(s) soon. Please reach out to me with any questions you may have or perspective you’d like to share. I look forward to getting to know all of you soon. Enjoy the time with your child(ren) over the summer.

Sincerely,

Katie Madigan

Acting Principal

Important Immunization Requirement - UPDATE - for 6th grade families

Effective July 1, 2019 the Tdap booster will no longer be required for students entering sixth grade. Instead, the Tdap booster will be required for students entering seventh grade. This immunization requirement was previously for rising 6th grade students.

However, parents/guardians of 6th grade students when you take your child to the doctor this year remember to ask their private health care provider, or the health department, to review their child’s immunization record if you are unsure if your child has received the Tdap booster. A signed and dated immunization record from the physician stating that your child has received this immunization will be required to enter 7th grade, next year. You may send in your documentation into your school's registrar at any time, to ensure that he or she meets this requirement before the first day of school in the fall of 2021.

Students can receive immunizations required for school at any Fairfax County Health Department immunization clinic. Information about health department clinic locations and hours can be found at https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/health/clinics.
