A Message from Dr. Smith
This week the Lake Braddock Administrative Team has had a great week working on the opening of the school year. We devoted time discussing the book Marching Off the Map: Inspire Students to Navigate a Brand New World by Tim Elmore and ways to further enrichment learning experiences for students in the coming school year.
Next week we will kick off fall sports; Golf will start on August 1st and all other athletes return August 5th. There is a new Athletic Department webpage and more information regarding athletics below. We are excited to have students back in the building this week getting involved in fall sports.
The first day of school is only one month away! Below you’ll find important information regarding Bruin Blast and FCPSOn. We look forward to having all our Bruin community back in a few short weeks.

Patriot District Softball Rivals Combine Talents For the Love of the Game
Rival District softball coaches from Lake Braddock, West Springfield, Robinson, Woodson, Pope Paul VI, and Fairfax volunteered their talents and love of softball to offer a camp for young girls from the ages of 11 to 17 who want to sharpen their skills and make new friends along the way.
JV softball coaches in the Patriot District, along with Pope Paul VI often talked about the need for young girls who want to make their respective varsity squads to work on the fundamentals of softball. Lake Braddock Junior Varsity head coach, Megan Baney, along with her assistant, Bill Myers, came up with the idea of offering a joint camp in the summer to do just that. Coaches recruited girls from their junior varsity teams and feeder schools to attend the camp. Approximately 25 girls throughout the region participated in the four-day camp, with the fifth day being reserved for girls interested in pitching or catching..
Although the intended goal was to improve the fundamentals of the game, an added feature is improving the camaraderie on and off the softball field and developing good sportsmanship.
While not every coach was able to commit to the five-day camp due to job commitments, every district coach participated in preparing for the camp in some way, and every school in the Patriot District, as well as Pope Paul VI had players attending camp.

Please review the ECC and mark any corrections as needed, complete the Health Information form, and turn the forms in during Bruin Blast on Thursday, August 22. We will also be sending out an email via eNotify that will have a link to the Welcome Back school webpage containing all other information and forms you’ll need to complete and/or update.
FCPSOn Information
FCPSOn is here! Starting in August, each high school student will be issued a laptop to use throughout the school year. For more information on the program, please view the FCPSOn Information page.
Lake Braddock will begin distribution with Subschool 3 students on August 8th. Please see below for the full schedule along with alternate dates. Students must be present and have their student ID number ready to pickup and logon to the laptop. Parents do not need to be present. We anticipate assignment of the laptop and the initial logon to take approximately 30-45 minutes. We understand schedules may impact pickup, however due to the number of students picking up devices, we ask that student try to attend their initial checkout date as there will be limited staff during the makeup days. Thank you.
