Justice Wolves

Dear Justice Families,

We hope that you are enjoying your summer break. We have been very busy at Justice tidying up the building and doing a few paint touch-ups. In addition, our field upgrades are complete. Our school is looking good.

We are pleased to announce that Justice High School was one of 16 recipients to receive the Virginia 2019 Board of Education's Continuous Improvement Award. Congratulations to our students and staff for making Justice a great place to work and learn. Click here for more information.

If you have any questions, please feel free to come or call the main office. Our summer hours are from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. We are happy to help.

Counselor Caseload Changes

As we plan for the coming year, we have a few changes to the Justice HS Student Services staff. Please join us in welcoming school counselors Megan Neforos and Jolana Roberts, who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our Justice HS team. We are also excited to share that we have adjusted our counseling caseloads. We will have eight “alpha” counselors and the school counselor caseload assignments have shifted to accommodate this change. We are committed to providing you the best possible service and the adjusted caseloads will allow counselors to provide more time to their students and families. Students who now have a different counselor due to the adjusted alphabet can be assured that counselors will work together to provide a smooth transition. In the short term, we recognize there will be a transition period. Beginning August 8, 2019, the first day counselors are available, please direct any questions or concerns to your “alpha” assigned counselor based on the new caseload assignments. Please contact Chrissy Spaulding, Director of Student Services, at caspaulding@fcps.edu with any questions. Our student services direct line is (703) 824-3922. Listed below are the new caseload assignments:

  • A-Ba: Shari Winston
  • Bb-De: Carissa Camacho
  • Df-Gue: Richeal Fretwell
  • Guf-La: Nora Covert
  • Lb-Mu: Alysha Damratowski
  • Mv-Ram: Ann Elise Schneider
  • Ran-So: Linda Hardy
  • Sp-Z: Megan Neforos
  • ESOL Level 1: Maurice Hirsh
  • Resource Counselor: Jolana Roberts

Student Services School Connectedness Focus

This year, the Student Services department focused on connecting students to a trusted adult, school activities, and community involvement. Research shows that students who have a trusted adult or feel like they are a member of the school community are more likely to come to school and graduate on time. We are proud to report that 92% of the over 200 students targeted for this goal were able to identify a trusted adult and become involved in either the school or community by the end of year. Throughout the year, counselors met with their identified students individually to help students research activities that fit their interests, connect students with coaches and club sponsors, and build supportive relationships.

Academic and Career Plan (ACP) Parent Verification – Rising Juniors (Class of 2021)

This year, your child continued to develop an Academic and Career Plan (ACP) that supports their current work as well as helps them plan for the future. This plan connects to the Fairfax County Public Schools strategic plan, supports Portrait of a Graduate attributes, and is also required by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). VDOE requires that the student’s parent or guardian review this plan. When reviewing the plan with your child, you can coach him or her to make decisions about college and careers that match his or her personal strengths, interests, and goals, recognizing there are multiple pathways to success. Please have your child log into his or her ACP in Family Connection and, or if you have a Blackboard Parent View account, you can log into your account. Together, with your child, once in Naviance, click the “about me” tab and scroll down to “portfolio.” Once you click on the portfolio, you can view all of the work that has been completed by your child. Once you have reviewed your child’s plan, use this link or this Google form to complete the verification form. The completion of this form will serve as your signature. This must be completed by Wednesday, July 10, 2019. For more information about your child’s ACP, visit the ACP website.
