Class Placements
In order to learn of your child's teacher in advance of August 23rd, you must have a Student Information System (SIS) account. We continue to encourage our parent community to sign-up for an account before the end of the school year or when they register their child(ren). Please note that we will not be posting class lists this year. To learn more about the additional features of SIS, please click here.
Open House/Back-to-School
Our Open House and Back-to-School festivities will take place Friday, August 23rd. The schedule is as follows:
3:30 pm: Optional Meet the Teacher for Students with Special Needs
4:00 pm-5:00 pm: Meet the Teacher
4:00 pm-4:20 pm: New Family Orientation in the Library
4:45 pm-5:15 pm: Popsicles on the Playground (*Please feel free to use the outdoor equipment past this time. Parents, thank you, in advance, for supervising your child.)
There will be a Google Slide presentation that will be shown in each classroom, and due to the additional PoG Night in mid-October, we are not asking teachers to present at this time. These presentations, will will run on repeat, will be posted on our website, just like last year.
During this event, you will be able to greet your child's teacher, learn favorite facts about him or her, possibly participate in a classroom scavenger hunt, and familiarize yourself with the learning environment in your child's classroom--activities typical of an Open House. There will be opportunities to sign-up as a parent volunteer, as well as additional sign-ups, too. You will also learn how your child's teacher, and grade level, will be communicating with you during the 2019-2020 school year.
By orchestrating our "Back-to-School" in this manner, we are able to familiarize you and your child with the routines and expectations in his or her classroom, and build momentum with instruction, beginning on the first day!
Thank you, in advance, for attending!

New Video! Lexia Core5 Reading and PowerUp
Your child has been using Lexia Core5 Reading (grades K-5) or PowerUp (grade 6), a web-based reading program that provides targeted practice and instruction to continue to develop reading skills. To this end, we want to support your child with his or her progress over the summer and are offering the use of Lexia Core 5 and/or PowerUp at home during the summer months. Please note that rising 6th graders will now sign on to PowerUp instead of Lexia Core 5.
Since there is no teacher follow-up during the summer, we ask that you monitor your child’s use with the program and limit usage to 20 minutes per week. In addition, please allow your child to work independently at his or her own pace. The program tracks the student’s needs and adjusts to them. The information we will be able to glean through this formative assessment at the beginning of the year will be so helpful! Therefore, once again, please encourage your child to log-on, but refrain from helping!
Getting Started is Easy!
Please watch this step-by-step video to help you with any log-on questions you may have.

Thank you to our amazing 6th grade teachers for an outstanding last year for our students. A special debt of gratitude goes to Mrs. Tardy and her team of miracle workers who turned our gym into a circus theme, rivaling that of The Greatest Showman. It was spectacular, and fun was had by all!
I normally wouldn't highlight my tweet, but this is too good to miss! Our 6th grade students surprised us with a rewritten song, celebrating their year at Flint Hill. Check it out!
