Orange Hunt News We HOOT

medieval festival

Thank you to all our volunteers and fifth grade teachers for your support in hosting another wonderfully successful Medieval Day for our students! As you can see from the picture, our students had a blast!

Have your plans changed? Are you moving?

Please let the office know if you are moving this summer or changing schools.  We need updated residency information whether you are moving to a different house within Fairfax County or moving out of the area.  Questions about what is needed please feel free to contact Ann Prentice, Orange Hunt Registrar at 703-913-6812 or aiprentice@fcps.edu. Thank you!

Yearbooks are Coming!

6th grade students who ordered yearbooks will receive them on Monday, June 10th, 2019.  Students in grades K – 5 who ordered yearbooks will receive them on Tuesday, June 11th.  Unfortunately, we do not have extra yearbooks for sale this year.

We do have extra class pictures for sale in the front office. The cost is $11.00. Please make checks payable to LIFETOUCH.  Sorry, we can’t make change; cash will only be accepted for the exact amount.

lost and found

Lost and Found

The Lost and Found at Orange Hunt has been growing. We know you spend a lot of money on things for your children.  Please come and check it out. There are many, many jackets and sweatshirts.  If you are missing any of these items please stop by and take a look. The Lost and Found racks  are  located near exit 3, behind the cafeteria.  We will be donating the unclaimed items to the needy soon. Thank you!

SOL Testing Results

Now that all students have had the opportunity to complete their SOL assessments, unofficial score report letters will be sent home in the US mail directed to parents. You can expect these results to arrive near the last day of school. We feel that it's important to send these results through the mail because we know that students are anxious about their scores and  believe it's important for parents to decide whether or not students will see their score. The official score reports are sent home from the state, sometime near the end of August.

Google Suite for Education Available Over the Summer

Student Google Suite for Education accounts will continue to be available to students over the summer. If students utilized their Google Drive over the school year in their classroom, all files created by or shared with students will continue to be available to them.

If you would like to explore what your child is working on in Google, log in with your student using their username and password that they used during the school year at home.

Students have the ability to reset their password using the Account Recovery service, even over the summer. However, recovery options must be set up in advance. Your child can set up those options by logging into the FCPS Account Manager.

Summer is also the perfect time to revisit the rules in your household for technology and media use, and set clear expectations for your child. The FCPS Digital Citizenship website has Device Contracts and Family Media Agreements that can help you guide family conversations. There is also a free online Digital Citizenship course available for parents and their children to work through together. More information on Google Suite for Education can be found on the FCPS Website
