FCPS G Suite for Education: Summer Access

G Suite for Education is available to students over the summer. All files created by, or shared with, students will continue to be available to them. Explore what your student is working on in G Suite for Education by having your student log in to his or her FCPS G Suite for Education account at home. Your student will use his or her network login credentials to access G Suite for Education. Students have the ability to reset their password using the Account Recovery service, even over the summer. However, recovery options must be set up in advance. Your student can set up those options by logging into the FCPS Account Manager.

Summer is also the perfect time to revisit the rules in your household for technology and media use, and set clear expectations for your child. The FCPS Digital Citizenship website has Device Contracts and Family Media Agreements that can help you guide family conversations. There is also a free online Digital Citizenship course available for parents and their children to work through together.

More information on G Suite for Education can be found on the FCPS Website.

Rising 7th Grade Parents: Save the Dates!

Rams Rally, August 22, 2:30-5:30 PM Students and parents are able to view their schedules and visit classrooms (teachers will not be available at that time). More information will follow later this summer.

7th Grade Student Orientation, August 23, 8:00-11:00 AM (Students Only) Students will be able to take a bus from a local elementary school to come to Orientation. They will follow their schedules, meet teachers and have an opportunity to practice opening their lockers. Because there is no Shifting Gears this summer due to renovation, our orientation will address the many questions and concerns 7th graders have as they start middle school.

Algebra 1 Honors Placement: Rising 7th grade students must meet both of the following requirements in order to be placed in Algebra 1 Honors: 91st percentile on the Iowa Algebra Aptitude Test (IAAT) and a score at or above 500 on the Grade 7 SOL. Eligibility letters were mailed home last week. If your child is ineligible and would like to appeal, please send a written request to Young Hong, Director of Student Services via email at yjhong@fcps.edu by June 30.

Under Construction: Renovation News.

  • Roofing work is being completed for the new lecture hall.  You may see a crane hanging overhead.
  • We are busily planning for the summer moves including the main office.  The office will be moving to the new addition the week of June 17 and will have limited summer hours, 9-1.
  • You will soon see big changes in our parking lot and around the front entrance.  As soon as school closes, demolition of the main office, locker commons and little theater will begin.  We look forward to the construction of a new main entrance and library during the 19-20 school year.
  • Video  about the renovation progress.

Air Quality:  During construction, questions about indoor air quality arise. The most recent air quality tests for June met all standards.   The air quality inside the building is monitored at least once per month.  Please visit the Rocky Run website to review FAQs related to indoor air quality.

If you have specific questions about the renovation, please email them to Administrative Assistant, AJ Ries, ajries@fcps.edu or call the Rocky Run MS main office at 703-802-7700.

We will post updates, pictures, timelines, etc on this page on our website. This page will also be linked as a static announcement on our homepage as we move through the renovation process.
