Message from the Principal, Dr. Smith.
Bruin Nation is in full-on celebration season! We have hosted the 8th grade awards, the senior awards, the PTSA held baccalaureate, and middle school teams have gathered for a final time.
The students' accomplishments are to be commended and graduation remains the culmination of years of hard work and dedication from our students, families, and school community. The last rehearsal was today and the seniors will graduate at Eagle Bank Arena on Monday at 9:30am.
Almost 100 seniors participated in our Bridging Bruins Program over the last few weeks of school and on Wednesday gathered in the library for the annual Share Fair. Thank you to the community members, businesses, and organizations who hosted a Lake Braddock Senior!
Our varsity baseball team is still in the hunt for a state title, playing in Richmond, Virginia, at the VHSL state tournament. What a spring season it has been for all of our student-athletes!
The last weekly edition of this newsletter for the 2018-2019 school year will be next week. I will continue to send updates during the summer to inform you of our FCPSOn 1:1 distribution, Bruin Blast, and information for the 2019-2020 school.
Congratulations again to the Class of 2019 and their families! We are looking forward to graduation on Monday, June 10.

Important Information for ALL
Medication Pick-Up
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room. Students who are designated as self-carriers may pick-up their own medications.
Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services. A medication authorization form is required for any medication, prescription or over-the-counter, to be kept at school. Please be sure medication orders are clear. All information on the form must be completed. Part I must be signed and dated by the parent or guardian. Part II must be signed and dated by your physician. Over-the-counter medication given for headache, muscle pain, orthodontic pain, or menstrual cramps and antibiotic or anti-viral medication do not need a physician signature. More detailed information is available on the back of the medication authorization form.
Over-the-counter medication must be in the original container and clearly labeled by the parent or guardian. All prescription medication, including physician’s samples, must be labeled by the pharmacist or physician. Please make sure that the label clearly states your student’s name, the name of the medication, the dosage of the medication, and the time interval for administration.
If your child will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, your existing long-term medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).
Your cooperation will ensure that we can safely give your student his or her medication. If you have any questions, please contact your school health room aide, at 703-426-1012,or your school public health nurse, Carol Hutchinson, at 703-426-1012.

Middle School After-School Program Survey
Below is a link for a quick survey about the Middle School After-School Program. The survey should take no longer than 5-10 minutes to complete. The survey is an important component of the after-school program evaluation and is critical for future funding. The more responses we receive, the more valuable and reliable the data. The responses not only allow us to assess the impact of the after-school program but they help drive program improvement and program quality. This survey has been approved by the FCPS Internal Survey Review Committee. Seal Approval Number 19225.
Over 95% of our students participated in the after-school program this school year, with over 22,000 occurrences of students staying after-school. Thank you for your continued support of the Middle School After-School Program!
All survey responses are due by the last day of school, June 14.
