WAKEFIELD FOREST ES Weekly Message

Lion King

The cast of The Lion King takes a bow after three very successful performances.

Dear parents/guardians,

We are so excited to close out another successful school year!

I appreciate the dedicated teachers and staff that bring our building to life. Each day staff work beyond their contract hours to meet with parents, plan lessons, create assessments, etc. Just last week we had the opportunity to see many hours of additional work come together in an amazing production of The Lion King. I can’t tell you how much joy I got in seeing our fifth and sixth graders perform and to witness the amazing collaboration between Ms. Waggoner, Ms. Richards, Ms. Ely, Ms. Thomas, Ms. Ko, Ms. Kwon, and Ms. Rapuano. I am extremely proud to be the principal of a school where teachers care so deeply for their students and each other.

We see it as a great privilege to teach your children each day. Thank you for your trust and partnership this school year. We hope you have a wonderful summer.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Sharyn Prindle
Principal

Last Day of School
Thursday, June 13th -- 3 hour early dismissal @ 12:25 PM.  Please plan accordingly.  Thank you!

Lunch Schedule on Thursday, June 13
Because of the three-hour early dismissal, all students will be eating lunch at school on an earlier schedule this Thursday.  Lunches begin at 10:00 am.  For more information, please call the office at 703-503-2300.

End of Year Medication Disposal Guidelines

All medication stored in the school health room must be picked up by a parent or guardian no later than the student dismissal time, 12:25 pm, on the last day of school, this Thursday, June 13, 2019. All medication not picked up will be discarded. For additional information, please call Health Room Aide Dana Wade at 703-503-2300.

Change in Tdap Requirement

Effective July 1, 2019, the Tdap booster will no longer be required for students entering sixth grade. Instead, the Tdap booster will be required for students entering seventh grade. Parents or guardians should ask their private healthcare provider, or the health department, to review their child’s immunization record if they are unsure if their child has received the Tdap booster. Students, including current sixth graders, who have received a Tdap at age seven or older will meet the school immunization requirement for Tdap and will not need another dose prior to entering seventh grade. Seventh grade students cannot begin school in August without documentation of the Tdap booster.

Outstanding Library Book Obligations

Emails went out on June 6 to parents of any students who still have library obligations. Please return the items or pay the replacement cost ASAP. All library obligations must be satisfied by tomorrow, Wednesday, June 12. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Rapuano at alrapuano@fcps.edu.

Lost and Found

This is the last week to check Lost and Found.  Please encourage your students to look for sweatshirts, sweaters, water bottles, etc. that they have misplaced; all WFES students pass by the Lost and Found on their way to lunch!  Any items not claimed by Thursday, June 13 will be donated.

WFES Summer Hours

Beginning the week of June 17, the Wakefield Forest office summer hours will be 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and by appointment.  Please call the office at 703-503-2300 with any questions.
