This Week in Review June 6

This Week in Review

Good morning Frost Middle School Families,

We have exactly one week left of school! The last day of school is June 13, 2019.  Students will be released three hours early on that day at 11:15 am.

We had a fantastic showing at the 8th grade party last Friday night.  It was a huge success! The 8th grade students had a ball! Thanks to the PTA for hosting and coordinating this event. It is always a hit!

Please note that Friday will be locker clean-out day. Students will be asked to clean out all of their materials and take them home. Next Tuesday will be the last day for locker use.

We are finishing up the last few make up and retakes as part of our SOL testing season. In addition, our 8th grade students are visiting Finance Park this week and completing end of year assessments in various courses.

Thank you for all of your support. The students did an amazing job this year as we have seen increases in pass rates in English and Math. Go Falcons!!!

All the best. Have an outstanding weekend!

Anthony

Frost Yearbook

Have you purchased your yearbook yet?  There is still time!  The cost is $45.00.  We are accepting checks through Friday, June 7, made out to Frost Middle School.  Starting on Monday, June 10, we will accept cash payments only.  Please put payment in an envelope marked "Yearbook Order" and drop it off at the Main Office. Students who have pre-ordered will get their yearbooks on June 10th.

Locker Clean-Out Day - Friday, June 7

Tomorrow will be locker clean-out day.  Students will have 15 minutes at the end of the day to clean out their lockers.  If needed, please send your student with extra bags on Friday, so that they may take their locker contents home.

Students will have access to their lockers on Monday and Tuesday, but Tuesday at dismissal will be the last time to use the locker this school year.

Spring Pictures

If you are not purchasing your spring photos, please return them ASAP to your PE teacher.  If you would like to purchase your photos, PE teachers have envelopes with packages and prices.  You will be charged for any photos not returned or paid for.

Medication Pick-Up

Our School Health Aide, Leslie Grottle, needs all medication stored in the health room to be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications are retrieved by the student’s parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student.

If your child will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, your existing long-term medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).

If you have any questions, please contact Leslie Grottle, School Health Aide, at 703-426-5710, or your school public health nurse, Lisa Yonika, R.N. at 703-388-1324. Thank you for your cooperation and have a good summer.

Rising 9th Grade Orientation at WTW

All rising 9th graders and transfer students (grades 10-12) are invited to take tours of Woodson High School this summer.   Student led tours will be taking place on July 29, July 31 and August 6 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

To schedule a tour, please contact Woodson's registrar, Ms. Lieb-Mosley at 703-503-4622 or cleibmosley@fcps.edu.

All tour time slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Whether or not you are able to book a tour, we highly encourage all students to attend Cav Kickoff on August 22.  During Cav Kickoff, students will receive their schedules and locker information, have a chance to explore the building, and learn more about clubs, activities and other ways to get involved in the Woodson community.

#ONE Frost in Action

This segment is aimed at recognizing students for demonstrating recent improvement or achievement in academics, behavior or citizenship. I want to showcase what ONE Frost means to us!  At the end of each recognition, you will see the name of the nominating teacher or staff member. On a monthly basis, departments and/or faculty members will nominate students. I will meet with all of the students who are recognized to congratulate them on their kindness, hard work, and willingness to accept others into their circle.

Alexis Goriup -Alexis shows up with a positive attitude and willingness to help others when needed. Alexis is there to help her classmates and has no problem encouraging/cheering them on them to do their best no matter the circumstances. Alexis is a pleasure to have in class and her smile is infectious. - Mr. Bazan

Enzo Hiu -  Enzo has shown Other People Matter mindset through Cheering Other's Success. He uses his extraordinary vocabulary to build positive relationships with peers and teachers. No matter what he is doing he is able to connect with others, Enzo is never too busy to give an encouragement. He encourages classmates when they read out loud during class or completing assignments during Falcon Focus. - Ms. Bromell

Jeffery Rivas -Jeffrey works very hard in Science and always puts forth 100% effort. He is always patient and kind to his classmates if they have a question or need help from him. I can always count on him to be a good lab partner for all students in the class.  - Ms. Kenyon

Ashley Pastor -Ashley Pastor is a very patient student whose caring spirit is an enhancement for everyone in her science class. She works well with all classmates and never complains about anything. Ashley helps others when they need it in a calm, enthusiastic manner. She exemplifies “other people matter” by consistently cheering her classmates on to success. - Ms. Shaw

Rafi Omari -Rafi Omari is not only happy for his classmates when they have success (whether it's a great presentation or answering a question correctly), but he also cheers them TO success, by providing verbal encouragement, great teamwork skills, and modeling a "Let's do this!" attitude that lifts both his peers' and his teachers' spirits! He takes pride in his own work, but also demonstrates appreciation for the efforts of his classmates. He is a positive force in the classroom!! - Ms. String

Lizbeth Aguilar-Molina -Lizbeth is one of those students that is a quiet but powerful force for good. Whether she is helping another student with a homework problem, working with a reluctant lab partner or comforting a friend, she is always looking for the good in others and helping them be the best they can be. She is unselfish with her help and her praise and encouragement and proof that you can be cool AND a good student! - Ms. Murphy

Helen Alvarez -Helen is genuinely excited when her peers succeed. She is eager to help them reach success by offering up her notes or her expertise in certain subjects. When her peers experience success, whether for academic or behavioral reasons, Helen cheers them on wholeheartedly. - Ms. Shue
