FCPS Institute for the Arts
The Program
The Institute for the Arts (IFTA) is a four-week summer enrichment program for students in middle school and high school. Students pick from over 80 classes in:
- Dance
- Music
- Art
- Fashion illustration and design
- Theatre
High school students can also take Online Health & PE 9 or Self-Directed Economics & Personal Finance.
Dates and Times
- July 1 – July 26, 2019 (Note: There are no classes on July 4 or July 5)
- 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Location
Classes and Daily Schedule
- Students have four classes that meet daily for four weeks. Classes are 70 minutes long.
- Schedules are emailed 7-10 days before the start of the institute.

Rising 9th-12th Grade Families: Important Update About FCPSOn
FCPSOn, our digital transformation initiative, will expand to all Fairfax County public high schools starting with the 2019-20 school year. FCPSOn provides equitable access to technology and to instructional practices that support students' development of Portrait of a Graduate attributes.
As part of the initiative, all high school students will be issued a laptop for learning at school and at home. An annual technology support fee of $50 will be charged to high school students. This fee will help ensure students have access to the technology they need by defraying the cost to repair and replace equipment, ensuring all students have the necessary laptops for testing, and providing back-up laptops as a substitute as needed.
