 What a great short week! Many staff and students enjoyed mingling with the therapy dogs outside in the courtyard yesterday. This is a partnership organized by Ms. McKinney that we plan to continue next school year. We also had a lot of fun wearing hats around school today - we hope all the May birthdays were celebrated in style. This week also the fourth and sixth graders enjoyed science-themed field trips in conjunction with Ms. Busch and our outdoor education program.
Everyone is gearing up for an awesome field day next week! If you are interested in volunteering, be sure to email Mr. Hickman or Mr. VanTrees. Speaking of volunteers, thank you to those helping out in our cafeteria! Every person makes a big difference - especially in June. Please come in if you have availability between 10:30 - 1:30 any day!
A final reminder that if a teacher or staff member went above and beyond to support you or your child, it means so much to submit their name and story to FCPS through the FCPS Cares system. The submission process is very short and the compliments get shared throughout the county. Consider recognizing someone great at Lemon Road before the end of the school year. As mentioned earlier this spring, Lemon Road is holding our first summer camp program specifically welcoming rising kindergarteners to Lemon Road. There will be two one-week sessions – we encourage families to register for one or both. Each day the program will take place during the morning, where children will meet new classmates, spend time in a kindergarten classroom, visit the cafeteria for snack, play on the playground, and familiarize themselves with the school and staff. Spots are still available for both weeks (July 29 – August 2 and August 5 – 9). Register here!
