Did you know…. The end of the school year is rapidly approaching. How do you find the balance between much needed downtime and much needed structure? Here are 5 summer activities that will make everyone in the family happy: https://yourteenmag.com/stuff-we-love/teenager-summer/summer-activities-for-teens

Summer Reading Fun

Summer should be a time to rest and recharge for the next school year. This LibGuide doesn't contain assignments or required reading but rather a group of places to find books, reading lists, challenges and recommendations. Pick up a challenge and see how many books you can read that fit it. Look through lists and find something new you never thought about reading. Visit libraries, museums and bookstores for events. Check out our staff picks, read one and talk with a staff person when you return!  Reading can be a great way to relax and enjoy the summer. Whether you are sitting by the pool or traveling or using a print book, ebook or audiobook, a book can always accompany you. Have a wonderful summer!

Parking hang tag applications for the 19-20 school year will be available in the main office on Monday, May 20 and will be accepted thru Monday, June 7, 3:30 PM.  All applications must include a copy of the student’s driver’s license.

All completed/signed applications will be limited to rising seniors, applications for rising juniors will not be accepted at this time.  In the fall, if spaces are available for limited junior parking, information for a lottery will be made available with applications accepted at that time.

Payment for the parking hang tag ($200) will be accepted beginning mid-July through www.myschoolbucks.com .  Checks will no longer be accepted.  All unpaid parking tickets and school obligations must be paid prior to applying/receiving a hang tag.  Payment for outstanding obligations can also be made at www.myschoolbucks.com in the School Store.

MySchoolBucks

Please remember to add money to your child’s school nutrition account.  All accounts must be brought current before the end of the school year in June. Visit MySchoolBucks.

Learn more about this online payment portal for many school fees.  Parents can set up an account which they link their student(s) to so there is one account per family.  Course fees, lunch funds, obligations, some ticket events can be taken care of online. MySchoolBucks eliminates the need for students to carry cash to school and for multiple checks to be written.

LOST AND FOUND

Missing a jacket or sweatshirt? It may be in Langley’s very large lost & found collection. Please stop by the lost and found box located in the cafeteria no later than June 6th. Items in lost and found will be donated after June 6th.

Could one of these be yours?

Requesting a refund for my student's meal account

Meal account refunds can be requested by e-mailing the following information to mealaccountrefund@fcps.edu

  1. Student Name
  2. Student ID # (listed on the student's schedule)
  3. School Name
  4. Parent Name
  5. Street Address
  6. City, State and Zip code
  7. Phone #

On June 30 of each year, balances for all graduating seniors will no longer report in MySchoolBucks.  Food and Nutrition Services will have access to balance files and if parents have not requested a transfer or refund by this date, they may still do so up to one year (to June 30 of the following  year) using the above methods.

Parents are required to log into www.MySchoolBucks.com and from the homepage dashboard and click “Remove Student." Click the box under “Remove?” for the graduating student’s name.

Medications

All medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than 11 am on June 13. Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that prescription medication must be picked up by the parent or guardian; it cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a student may transport over-the-counter medication to and from the school health room. If you have any questions, please contact your school health room aide, Mariama Kalokoh, at mkalokoh@fcps.edu.

Yearbooks are still available to pick up. See Ms. Mulligan in room 1215 or 1207.

We still have extra copies for sale, $90 cash or check payable to Langley HS.

How many leaves are on the tree?

The Legacy Tree will have about 375 leaves, birds and acorns so far on its branches as it takes shape in the Langley Lobby over the summer! The leaves will bear the names of former, current and future Langley students as well as teachers and families. We also have 10 Courtyard Benefactors — donors of $1,000 or more — whose family or company names will appear on a plaque adjacent to the Legacy Tree.

Our donors have raised more than $70,000 to date for the renovation of our three courtyards. Thank you to those who have contributed!

We need additional donations, however, to complete this wonderful project for our students.

Before the school year is over, please contribute to the Langley Legacy Tree. Choose your engraved message — leaves make wonderful tributes to students, graduates, teachers, family and friends! Giving levels are copper leaf ($50), silver leaf ($100), gold leaf ($200) and bird or acorn ($500)
