The 20th annual end-of-the-year Academy Awards program was held on Thursday, May 23 to celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of our students as well as honor a select group of outstanding students. While we have many talented students, a few in each program distinguish themselves through their diligence, high achievement, creativity and work ethic.

Our students will be cleaning out their lockers next week! Seniors will do so on Monday, June 3 (their last day is Tuesday) and Underclassmen will clean out on Thursday, June 6. Please remind your students that we will dispose of anything left behind in a locker – items are either donated to charity or disposed of as appropriate. Locker combinations are changed over the summer and there is no student access to them after school is out.
Our seniors finish their last exam on Tuesday, June 4, and that ends their academic career at Edison. They will attend three rehearsals for their graduation ceremony after that, and pick up caps and gowns on Friday afternoon, June 7, after their final rehearsal.
Underclassmen final exams begin on Friday, June 7. Students will be released after their exams at 11:14 a.m., and that will continue the following week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The last day for cafeteria food service is Thursday, June 6.
The last day of school is Thursday, June 14 and students will be released at 10:00 a.m. There are no classes that day, and any student who comes to school will go directly to the gym until dismissal.
Recently students have made us aware of receiving inappropriate and offensive photos on their iPhones while in class or during lunch. An iPhone user can AirDrop photos to another iPhone within 30 feet of each other. The students who received the photos did not know the student who sent them and did not want to receive the photos. Students who send or share inappropriate photos while in school are violating Student Rights and Responsibilities and will be subject to discipline. If your student has an iPhone, they can turn the AirDrop feature off by going to settings and switching AirDrop off.
We still need help from parents whose students are in all grade levels. Every year our students look forward to this amazing, fun-filled, alcohol-free safe event where they can spend one last time making memories with classmates and enjoy a variety of entertainment, games, casino, swimming, great food, prizes, and much more. Please consider helping. Join us at our last meeting before the big event Wednesday, June 5th at 7:00 pm in room B133.
We need donations of candy for this event! Please feel free to drop off donations in the main office at school. Remember: no candy with nuts.
Volunteers: We still need all grade level parent volunteers for the night of the event, some before for set up and to be there during the party June 10th from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. If you can help please contact our volunteer chair, Kerry Lansing at kerrylansing@cox.net
