Highlights From the Career Center – current 10th & 11th grade families
Parents of 10th Graders! The school counselors completed Career Units with 10th grade students and we had the CAREER FAIR in April. Please follow up with your student by asking your them who they spoke to as well as what they did for their Career Inventory (in Naviance Student) and what they learned by going to Road Trip Nation. Have them show it to you! Road Trip Nation is accessed via Naviance Student under the Career tab and it is the last one on the drop down menu! Here are some additional resources for checking out careers: Bureau of Labor Statistics site to see their Occupational Outlook Handbook: www.bls.gov/ooh, Career help & scholarships: https://www.careeronestop.org/, jobs in VA https://www.vawc.virginia.gov
Parents of 11th Graders! Please view important information by going to the FCPS SLHS Website: https://southlakeshs.fcps.edu/student-services/college-planning-resources (please copy and paste into your browser). This website includes a lot of helpful information as well as the link for the Student/Parent Information for Recommendations. Students who need a counselor recommendation for college applications or scholarships should fill this form out and return to their counselor by June 12, 2019.
