Family Math Fair Night
The FCHS ESOL teachers and students are excited to bring, for the second year, FAMILY MATH FAIR NIGHT to the FCHS families! The purpose of this fair is to provide FCHS ESOL students an opportunity to build their confidence by leading a variety of math game stations with the support of their mainstream peers such as NHS and Leadership students. In addition, this would be a great opportunity to build a community among many student groups.
- When: Friday, May 31
- Where: Fall Church High School Cafeteria
- Time: 6-8:30 p.m.
This is a family fun event where parents and children ranging from preschool to adults will be engaged in fun math games. There will be raffles at the end of the Fair. Bring your family and friends.
Student volunteers can sign up to receive community service hours by taking the following simple steps: 1) Log into their Blackboard, 2) Scroll down to click on Naviance, 3) Click on X2VOL at the bottom of the page, 4) Search for the opportunity: Family Math Fair Night, and 5) Sign up for it.
The ESOL department is collecting items for prizes to raffle for Family Math Fair Night. There will be a donation box to collect the donation in the main office.
For any questions, please contact Ms. Yu at syu@fcps.edu.

Medication Pickup
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room.
Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services. A medication authorization form is required for any medication, prescription or over-the-counter, to be kept at school. Please be sure medication orders are clear. All information on the form must be completed. Part I must be signed and dated by the parent or guardian. Part II must be signed and dated by your physician. Over-the-counter medication given for headache, muscle pain, orthodontic pain, or menstrual cramps and antibiotic or anti-viral medication do not need a physician signature. More detailed information is available on the back of the medication authorization form.
Over-the-counter medication must be in the original container and clearly labeled by the parent or guardian. All prescription medication, including physician’s samples, must be labeled by the pharmacist or physician. Please make sure that the label clearly states your student’s name, the name of the medication, the dosage of the medication, and the time interval for administration.
If your child will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, your existing long-term medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).
Your cooperation will ensure that we can safely give your student his or her medication. If you have any questions, please contact your school health room aide, Fabiola Candia-Aranibar, at 703-207-4010, or your school public health nurse, Julie Smith, at 703-237-6003.
Thank you for your cooperation and have a good summer!

Volunteers Needed
Hello friends:-)
I'm in charge of recruiting volunteers and donations for the ANGP this year:-) The hope every year is that underclassmen parents will volunteer so that senior parents can be home with their visiting guests and enjoy dinner with them and their graduate without rushing to work the party. If you by chance have your own "mini" parent email groups, I would really appreciate you sharing the link below:-)
I worked the party last year and it was actually quite fun, especially knowing you are helping keep the kids safe graduation night! I know you are all so busy with other volunteer activities, just sharing the info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
