Dear Edison Families,
Your student may come home today and share that one of our teachers, Mr. Tony Rugari, passed away. He died unexpectedly on Friday due to medical complications. On Friday, we did inform the staff and students (parents) of Mr. Rugari’s death at the end of the school day. Mr. Rugari taught at Edison since 1995 and was admired and respected by students and staff alike; we will miss him.
Your child might express shock, surprise, and experience a range of emotions. Please talk with your child and encourage him/her to share their feelings.
The family is in the process of making arrangements at Demaine Funeral Home in Alexandria. Several people have already posted tributes and their fond memories of Mr. Rugari as a teacher and a colleague.
If your child is having a difficult time, feel free to contact your child’s school counselor for additional support.
