Last week concluded a very successful two weeks of AP testing. We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the PTSA for supporting our AP test takers with Oakton pens/pencils, snacks and water. This would not be possible without the support of the larger community who donated snacks and their time to ensure that everything was set up in the testing locations every day for two weeks. Thank you! Special thanks to the PTSA AP Support Committee members Aparna Partha, Ana Riley, Eli Rainhart and Cynthia Rutzick.
Renovation Update
This week we will begin roofing some areas of the new addition! They will also continue the steel work throughout all areas of the addition. Last week, concrete was poured creating the foundation for Oakton Hall. Structural work has also begun for the new concession stand at the main field. Looking forward to this weekend, work will begin in the cafeteria kitchen. Students will still have the opportunity to purchase breakfast and lunch, however, it will be a bagged meal. The serving lines will be within the general cafeteria space for them to access.

General Information
End of Year Schedule
The entire end-of-year schedule for Oakton High School can be found on our website. As a reminder, due to our graduation time slot of 9:30am we will not have school on Thursday, June 6. The Presentations of Learning schedule has been posted on the website. The initial page explains the background and provides general information. A detailed calendar for each grade level is available at the bottom of the page.
SOL Testing Schedules/Calendar
This week we begin our large-scale SOL testing. On April 29th, all students in SOL classes were emailed through their FCPS accounts of their testing schedule letters. Each letter included testing statuses, dates, time periods, locations, and accommodations, if applicable. It also included a testing calendar for planning purposes. Paper copies of the letter were sent out to teachers on May 1st for distribution. Please touch base with your student concerning his or her testing schedule. If you have any questions about the schedule, testing status, or accommodations, please reach out to your student's counselor or Assessment Coach Molly Brady (mpbrady1@fcps.edu).
The SOL testing calendar can be found in its entirety on the Oakton website.

Morning Attendance Calls
The morning attendance telephone calls, texts and e-mails for reporting student absences will not occur for middle and high schools during AP, IB and SOL testing from Monday, April 29, 2019 through Friday, June 7, 2019. Students involved in testing are often in designated testing sites within the school during the normal attendance-taking time, so morning attendance notifications will be suspended.
