 Principal's Note
Students built a tower out of Keva planks during STEAM. They were excited that the tower was almost as tall as Mr. Johnson.
Mental Health Awareness
Since 1949, the month of May has been observed as Mental Health Month in the United States and many national organizations observe mental health awareness. Mental Health Month raises awareness about the importance of mental health and to stop the stigma associated with mental health.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), over 43 million Americans experience mental health problems in any given year. Over 9 million adults in the U.S. have mental illness that is serious enough to interfere with their day-to-day lives, causing them to be unable to work or to function normally.

Jump Start Program for Rising 6th Grade Students: August 5-6 & 7-8
Glasgow Middle School will be hosting a FREE Jump Start program for rising 6th graders to prepare them for their transition to middle school. Students can attend one of the two sessions offered this summer. Session one runs August 6 & 7, and session two runs August 8 & 9, both sessions will be from 8am–12pm. Students will get acclimated to their new school through a variety of activities.
Students will have a chance to meet and interact with their new peers, tour the building and classrooms, as well as ask other important questions they may have before school begins. Jump Start is designed to alleviate any anxiety and concerns students may have about attending a new school and get them excited about the opportunities that await them at Glasgow Middle School.

While it is still early to be thinking ahead to next year, we want to give you information about class placements for the 2019-20 school-year ahead of time. The staff at Sleepy Hollow work hard to place students in an optimal learning situation each year. If you have some information that would help us make those decisions, please send your comments in writing to Mr. Johnson by May31st. Please do not list teacher names.
