Glasgow Community:

I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend. I went to the National’s game on Friday with a friend who was visiting from out of town and spent the day outside on Saturday at my daughters’ softball games. Today, I hope to take advantage of the warm weather and wash the cars and clean up my lawn.

A group of Glasgow students have been writing and preparing a short play as part of the “Voices of Now” after school theater program. On Friday night, they performed their play entitled “Roll Call” at the Arena Stage. We are so proud of them for sharing their perspective and talent as part of this incredible arts program.

One of the best parts of “Voices of Now” is how it gives students a forum to share their stories. It is an important reminder that every single one of our students has a story to tell. Whether they have recently arrived to this country or have grown up in the Justice pyramid their whole lives, middle school is a time for them to explore their voice, values and talents. Many of them have overcome incredible challenges, even at such a young age. Seeing performances like this are a great way to reconnect to the importance of our work as educators at Glasgow.

This week marks the last week of FIT before finishing the year with daily Panther Time.  Panther Time is an essential time for us to support our students’ social and emotional needs, especially at the end of the school year. Finally, I wanted to share with you the results of the “Parent - Principal Feedback Survey”.  Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey. Link: http://bit.ly/2VEOOKc.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Important Information for Rising 6th Graders

Students can attend one of the two sessions offered this summer. Session one runs August 5 & 6, and session two runs August 7 & 8, both sessions will be held from 8am–12pm. Back to School Night at the secondary level is an opportunity for you to meet your student’s teachers, see their classrooms, and hear about what each class will look like for your student. You will spend 10 minutes in each classroom, hearing from the teacher(s) of that class. Given the time constraints of the evening, we invite parents to email teachers directly with any specific questions or information you would like them to know about your student. Our teachers love to hear from you, and are always available for scheduled conferences throughout the school year.
