Dear Cardinal Forest Families,
Next week, the students in grades 3-6 will be taking math SOLs. Please be sure your child is at school on time as the assessments are given in the morning.
Please return or purchase your child’s spring pictures. Just send in the package of pictures. You can drop them off in the school office as well.
There are a few yearbooks that are available for purchase. If you would like your child to have a copy, please send to the office $15 cash in an envelope with your child’s name and teacher’s name. Yearbooks will be distributed June 6th.
New Principal Search Underway
Message from Jay Pearson, Acting Region 4 Assistant Superintendent
We are beginning the search for a new principal for Cardinal Forest Elementary School. An important step in the procedure is to inform staff and parents about the principal selection process. Therefore, all Cardinal Forest Elementary School staff, parents and community members are invited to attend an important meeting on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. We certainly hope that you will be able to attend this meeting.
Another critical component to the process is your written input. We invite you to offer your individual, written input (preferably via e-mail) regarding the skills, experience, and leadership characteristics needed for Cardinal Forest Elementary School. You might also address any challenges or issues that a new principal will need to address. Input is confidential and will not be discussed at the meeting. We welcome your input now, upon receipt of this letter, and are hopeful that many of you will share your thoughts. Please e-mail your ideas to or mail your suggestions to Adam McGeehan at Human Resources, 8115 Gatehouse Road, Falls Church, VA 22042-1203, by Friday, May 24, 2019. Suggestions for input are located below.
I look forward to working closely with the Cardinal Forest Elementary School staff, parents, and community members during the principal selection process.

Keep an eye on the calendar for events in closing the school year. The Talent Show will be held on two separate dates due to a 3 hr early release on the last day of school. Please note that on June 7th students in 1st – 6th grade will have Field Day. We will also offer families to bring a picnic lunch and join their students outside. A revised lunch schedule for the day will go home next week.
Have a great weekend!
