You’re invited to…
The Langston Hughes Middle School
Passion Project End of the Year Showcase!
What: Over the span of the entire school year, Advanced Academics 7th grade English students have been working on a Passion Project. The Passion Project was inspired by Google’s “20% time,” and modeled by other neighboring schools in the county. At the start of the year, students selected a topic they were passionate about and every quarter they have completed independent reading related to their topic. Additionally, these students researched their topics and composed expository products to teach the class about their topics. Their final step in the process, was to make positive change in their community or the world at large through their passion topic. The goal was the same for everyone: let’s learn as much as we can about our passions, and let’s make the world a better place as a result of what we have learned! Our Showcase will allow members of the community and peers to view all that the students have done this year to achieve their quarterly goals and end-of-year goal for their Passion Projects.
Where: Langston Hughes Middle School in the Hall of Nations
When: Wednesday, June 5th from 7:45 A.M. to 8:45 A.M.
What to expect: Students showcasing their work will be given a number. Odd numbered students will showcase first, and even numbered students will browse and learn about their peers’ projects. You will walk around to all the student displays and interact with the students. You will have the opportunity to comment on projects that stand out to you.
