Mr. McCann, Region 5 Executive Principal,

IMPORTANT SOL TESTING INFORMATION
Our students grades 3-6 started the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL Tests) on May 7, 2019. It will be very helpful if you can avoid appointments which may take your child out of school during this time period. Also, it will help your child to perform his or her best if he or she has had a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast and comes to school with a positive attitude.
Standards of Learning Test Schedules for Students Observing Ramadan
This year, the main Standards of Learning (SOL) testing window has significant overlaps with Ramadan, the Muslim holy month marked by daily fasting. The SOL testing window began for high schools on Monday, April 29th and for elementary and middle schools on Monday, May 6th. All schools must complete SOL make-up tests and retakes by Friday, June 7th. Ramadan begins the evening of Sunday, May 5th and ends with Eid-al-Fitr on Wednesday, June 5th.
At Greenbriar East ES, we have scheduled all SOL testing early in the day when students’ energy levels are likely to be highest.
