Mosby Woods Field Day 2019
Field Days are June 5, 6, and 7. Your child will be getting dirty and wet this day while having fun during Field Day. (Please look under Upcoming Events for each grade level's date.) It is important that your son or daughter wear appropriate clothing such as tennis shoes and comfortable clothes for movement. Although water will be provided, your child should bring a bottle of water (with their name marked on it) and sunscreen!
Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast
We love and appreciate all our volunteers! Please save the date for our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast to thank you for all your help and support - whether you stuffed Wednesday folders, shelved books, chaperoned field trips, or any other of the many tasks to help teachers and the school. The event will be the morning of June 3rd. More information coming soon!
Student Library Books
All student library books are due back on Friday, May 31, 2019. Look at home, in the classroom, in the car, at daycare, etc. Overdue notices will be sent home in Wednesday folders throughout the month. Payment for lost books will be collected in June. If you have any questions, please email our librarian, Heather Brown.
 Math League State Tournament
Eighteen Mosby Woods students represented the school in the Math League State tournament, and one again MWES crushed the competition! Quentin Hill (3rd grade), HuyLam Le (4th grade), Tony Nguyen (5th grade), and Mahmut Inanoglu (6th grade) all won First Place at their respective grade levels and all finished in the top 5 competitors overall. Additionally, Emily Hagan placed 3rd out of all 6th graders and Isabelle Yang placed 4th among the 3rd graders. All six of these students are now eligible to represent Mosby Woods and the state of Virginia at the National Math League Competition in June. The Mosby Woods team placed first overall in the state with a huge margin over the 2nd highest team. Congratulations to all of our mathematicians for all of their hard work!
Math Olympiad for Elementary and Middle School ("MOEMS")
Congratulations to our fantastic winners of the MOEMS competition. Rishabh Gala was our school winner! He additionally earned a gold pin by placing in the top 2% of all contest participants. Varun Gala, Tony Nguyen, Maddox Lazarte Franco, Quentin Hill, Henry Mann, and Sugi Arun earned a silver pin for placing in the top 10% of all contest participants. Henry Hung, Albert Xu, Katelyn Hubbard, Miguel Escobar Capela, Anshul Nagle, Rayan Mathur, Abigail Mesfin, Kurshat Bilgin, Sydney Kiffney, and Tiendan Le all earned a patch for placing in the top 50%.
