Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support! As end of the year activities and performances approach us, it reminds me that not only do we have talented staff who organize and plan such events, but we also have parents behind the scenes who are supporting in other ways. I know that you are motivating your son or daughter and encouraging him/her to have fun, practice and do their best! Our Strings and Chorus concerts really displayed such vigor and motivation over the last two weeks! I hope you might make plans to catch our last musical performance of the year on June 5th as our band will be performing in our café at 7pm.

Just a reminder that schools will be closed on Monday, May 27th for Memorial Day.  Enjoy this 3-day weekend with family and friends.  Wherever you are, be safe and be happy!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further support your child's learning and experience at Oak Hill.  My door is always open!

Sincerely,

Holly DeVore, Principal

5th landscape

Fifth grade landscape projects created in Chinese classes.

Chinese News

Planting season is here! It’s an exciting time for the 4th graders as they are helping 2nd graders to grow more milkweed for their butterfly garden. They will design their green house for milkweed seedling and make sure to have everything milkweed seedlings need in their green house.

The 5th graders just finished their landscape project. They worked in groups to design different landscapes for houses, apartments, or even community parks. They have different formats for their projects; some are making posters, some are using the computer, some even made 3D models. We have some of the models displayed in the library.

PTA Summer Book Exchange

The Oak Hill PTA’s annual Summer Book Exchange—a great way for students to trade books they have read and enjoyed—will be held during school on June 4 and 5. Books are being collected now through Monday, June 3. Students may bring in gently used books, leave them in the Summer Book Exchange bin in the lobby, and take a receipt good for an equal number of books (up to 15 books). On June 4 (grades 4 – 6) and June 5(grades pre-K – 3), each class will have time at the book exchange when students who submitted books can bring their receipts and “shop” for their selections. If you have any questions about this event, please contact Faye Morrison at fayelunn@gmail.com.
