Tuesday, May 7, 2019 to Wednesday, May 29, 2019.
It is important that your child attend school on these days. If possible, please avoid scheduling trips or appointments that would take your child out of school during this time period. It is also important that your child have a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast before testing.
If you become aware of an unavoidable conflict that could result in your child missing a testing day, please notify your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible.

The Spring 2019 SOL Testing Window has begun at Washington Mill Elementary School. Students are working hard and dilgently through their SOL Assessments. The School Kits forms were sent home in student backpacks last week so If you are interested in purchasing these supplies, you can return the form to school with payment (Check only made out to WMES PTA – NO CASH) by Tuesday, May 28 or order ONLINE before May 31.
Each grade level supply list has been picked by the WMES teachers for that grade. Purchasing these pre-prepared kits allows you to have all of your school supplies for your child's classroom next year delivered straight to the Open House for pick up on August 22, 2019.

Please join the WMES PTA for our second ever "Fill-A-Bag" for Food For Thought.
This event will be in addition to a brief General PTA meeting. We will be introducing the new slate of PTA Board Members before teaming up with the Food For Thought Committee to fill bags of foods for our WMES students at risk of weekend hunger. The bags we create will be sent home each week to over 35 students in need.
This is a wonderful opportunity to bring your student to volunteer and assist others. The committee will have food and an assembly line setup for us. Additionally, ALL food donations are welcome, simply see the list below for suggestions.

To help, please donate ready-to-eat foods like the items listed below. We are especially in need of lunch/dinner items. Donations may be dropped off in the boxes under the table in the main hallway of Washington Mill.

Student performers need to arrive by 6:30 pm to be tuned, seated and warm up. Student performers should wear white tops and black pants/skirts and black shoes. Gentlemen should have shirts long enough to be tucked in. If you have questions please contact your student’s director.

Summer Opportunities at Walt Whitman Middle School
Hello Sixth Grade Parents!
Whitman is excited to partner with Washington Mill with summer programs that support transition for our rising 7th grade students.
1.) Jump Start-Transition program to help students become familiar with the building, meet Whitman staff, and receive an introduction of expectations to middle school. Deadline registration is June 18, 2019. Students choose ONE session to attend on either July 29 or July 30, 2019. Registration attached in English and Spanish. Please contact colleen Hooper, director of Jump Start, for any questions.
2.) VIP Camp-Please see attached forms explaining expectations of VIP. There is a $50 fee plus field trip fees. VIP letter & VIP application are attached. This program runs from July 1- August 1. Early registration is strongly recommended, this program fills up quickly.
