Recently, our Band musicians were assessed at the State and district level for their performances. We had outstanding results!
• The Edison Concert Band received the rating of 2, which is Excellent. • The Edison Wind Ensemble has received the rating of 1, which is Superior. • The members of the Edison Marching Band and Edison Wind ensemble have both received Superiors this year, which means this is the first time in recent history that Edison has the honor of being named a Virginia Honor band. This recognition is only given to schools that display a comprehensive program; this is the highest honor bestowed by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association.
Congratulations to the Edison band members, along with our director, Charlie Mitchell, for their hard work to earn this prestigious award!

Laura Prince, science department chairperson, was nominated by her peers to be Edison Eagle of the Quarter. She teaches the IB class Theory of Knowledge, Chemistry, and IB Biology, and last year became certified as a researcher at the Library of Congress. Her colleagues say that she actively listens to their concerns and comments, which in turn allows them to speak openly and work collaboratively. The Science Fair has grown under her guidance, and our many students who won or placed with their projects this year shows her commitment to them. Congratulations, Laura! |
Our Technology Student Association had a very successful state competition last weekend! We wish them luck as they head to the national competition next month. Congratulations to the students and Mr. Chirinos, their sponsor.

To cap off Teacher Appreciation Week, our wonderful PTSA treated our teachers and the entire staff to a delicious lunch today -- chicken, rice, fries, plantains, yucca fries and desserts were all a big hit! We had happy, full teachers with big smiles for the rest of the afternoon. We appreciate you! |

It takes a village to have a successful ANGP! We need help from parents whose students are in all grade levels. Every year our students look forward to this amazing, fun-filled, alcohol-free safe event where they can spend one last time making memories with classmates and enjoy a variety of entertainment, games, casino, swimming, great food, prizes, and much more. Please consider helping. Join us at our last meeting before the big event Wednesday, June 5th at 7:00 pm in room B133.
Volunteers: We still need all grade level parent volunteers for the night of the event, some before for set up and to be there during the party June 10th from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. If you can help please contact our volunteer chair: Kerry Lansing at kerrylansing@cox.net.
For Parents of Seniors: The $60 ticket price is extended through May 31st. Prices go up June 1st. Night of the event (June 10) all tickets purchased at the door are $85.00.
You can find forms and online payment information at EHS - ANGP. Payments will not be accepted without a completed registration form! To print a form to turn in at school, click 2019 ANGP Registration Form. All forms can be filled out electronically with payment or dropped at the front office in a sealed envelope, addressed to ANGP.
Ask your student to see their counselor if you need financial assistance; free/reduced lunch students are able to attend for free if they have a parent and counselor signature before May 30th.
