Update: Principal Selection Search for Lee High School:
As many of you know, our current principal, Ms. Deirdre Lavery, announced her retirement a few weeks ago. At the meeting on Monday night (May 6th), the Human Resource team from FCPS asked for the parents, students and community to provide the following.
Feedback/Input process
The most critical component of the process is your written input. We invite you to offer your individual written input (preferably via e-mail) regarding the skills, experience and leadership characteristics needed for Lee High School. You might also address any challenges or issues that a new principal will need to address. Input is confidential and will not be discussed at the meeting. We welcome your input now, upon receipt of this message, and are hopeful that many of you will share your thoughts. To determine the best match for the leadership needs at your school, parent and staff perspectives will be used to screen candidate resumes and develop interview questions.

Lee HS Student Input
Our students will also have an opportunity on Thursday, May 9th, during advisory, to share their thoughts on the qualities they would like to see in a new principal. This will be done via google docs and their thoughts will be seen directly by the human resources team. Please talk to your student about this important opportunity form them to have a voice at their school on May 9th.
Principal Interview Panel
The PTSA President has been asked to provide the names of 6 parents that would be available to serve on an interview panel on Tuesday, May 21st from 7:30 am – 4 pm. The panel will be held at the Gatehouse Administrative Center in Falls Church. At this panel, the top candidates for the Lee HS Principal position will meet with a group of 3 teachers and 3 parents. The questions of the candidates that will be asked at this panel will be provided by the human resources team and developed from the Input that they receive from the staff, parents, students and community of Lee HS. We are looking for parents of students at all different levels and activities/programs at Lee. If you are interested in serving on May 21st, please email Liz McGhan, at leeptsapresident@gmail.com. Please provide your name, address, home and mobile phone numbers, email address, grades/ages of your student(s) and the programs they are involved in at Lee. Your response is needed no later than Thursday, May 9th, so the list can be submitted to the human resource team. You will then be notified directly if you were selected to serve on the panel.
