 Victory for the Mustangs!
Our staff basketball game against Providence was a huge success! Not only were we victorious in a tight game, we raised $1,033 for charity. Thanks to all of our teachers, students and families for their great support of our team and this event. High five for us!
Check out the article about the game in the Fairfax Connection!
May Testing
The Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) tests begin on Tuesday, May 7th. Students in grades 3-6 will take the tests on different days throughout the month of May. Please know your child’s test schedule and make sure your children get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast and are ready to try their best. It’s important for all students to arrive on time and please try to refrain from scheduling routine appointments on test days.
Student Library Books
All student library books are due back on Friday, May 31, 2019. Look at home, in the classroom, in the car, at daycare, etc. Overdue notices will be sent home in Wednesday folders throughout the month. If you have any questions, please email our librarian, Heather Brown.
The PTA Needs Your Help!
We are presently at risk for not having a PTA board next year. Without people willing to step up to help out, we are at risk of losing ALL after-school programs, all field trips, school supplies and other enriching opportunities for our children! You can help prevent this disaster from happening by volunteering some of your time, as many other MWES parents have done.
We have the Board positions as well as many other volunteer positions available and would be happy to talk to you about them. Please contact president@mosbywoodspta.org for more information.
Thank you for your support,
Lan Van Buendia- PTA Co-President
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10th
The PTA is sending home a separate flyer with notes about how we can show our appreciation for the fantastic teachers at Mosby Woods. Here’s a brief summary of the week:
Monday: coffee and donuts for teachers
Tuesday: thank a teacher day with a note or drawing
Wed: teacher snack day
Thursday: school supply day
Friday: Anita's breakfast
We are so fortunate at Mosby Woods to have such dedicated, caring, hard-working, intelligent teachers who help our students every single day. Please take the time to let your child’s teacher know how much you appreciate them and the terrific work they do!

SCHOOL-BASED AAP SERVICES
Screening for school-based services can happen at any time during the school year but is done schoolwide in spring to determine services for the next school year. Parents or guardians may initiate the screening for school-based (level II and III) services by submitting the AAP School-Based Services (Level II-III) Referral Form (available at https://www.fcps.edu/registration/advanced-academics-identification-and-placement/elementary-school/current-fcps at the bottom of the page in Forms) to the Mrs. Linehan by May 24th. Multiple criteria are used to screen students for all levels of AAP services. If a parent or guardian wishes to appeal an ineligible decision, they may submit an appeal with new data for consideration by the local school screening committee.
If you have any questions, please contact the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, Carole Linehan at calinehan@fcps.edu.
