CVHS SOL Testing Schedule

Attention:  Parents and Guardians of CVHS Students who are Currently Enrolled in SOL Courses

The Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) End-of-Course (EOC) Non-Writing Tests will be administered to CVHS students beginning on Thursday, May 16th through Friday, June 7th. SOL EOC tests are available in the following high school courses:  Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Biology, Chemistry, 11th Grade English (Reading SOL), Geometry, Geosystems (Earth Science SOL), Virginia and United States History, World History 1, and World History 2. The purpose of SOL testing is to provide information about student achievement to the parent, school, school division, and state. SOL tests measure the extent to which students have learned the content and skills within the Virginia Standards of Learning. In most cases, test scores will be available to students before the end of the school year.

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) requires high school students who are enrolled in any of the courses specified above to take the EOC test if the student needs a verified credit for graduation or if the student has not yet met federal testing requirements (1 Math, 1 Reading, and 1 Biology attempt taken during grades 9-12). Students who have met the testing requirements for graduation and federal accountability are not allowed to test. More detailed information will be provided to students by the teachers of each SOL course.  It is important that your student attends school on the days when he/she is scheduled to take an SOL test. If possible, please avoid scheduling trips or appointments that would take your student out of school on days of testing. It is also important that your student have a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast before testing.

Students are not permitted to access prohibited electronic devices while they are taking an SOL.  Prohibited electronic devices include all cell phones and any device that can transmit, receive, photograph, or record information including wearable technology. In addition, if it is determined that a student cheated on an SOL test, the student will receive a score of zero on the test and will not be permitted to attempt the test again until the next test administration. We will be reviewing these policies with students on Tuesday, April 30.

Please see below for a schedule of dates and times for each SOL.
