Kudos...

To the Falls Church High School Rocketry Team who qualified for the National Finals of the Team America Rocketry Challenge. They were ranked in the top 102 out 830 TARC teams nationwide, and they were the only team from a Fairfax County Public School to qualify for the National Finals this year.

The members of the FCHS team are Annaka Moses (grade 10, FCHS) and James Hoadley and Kevin Fan (both grade 9, McLean HS). The sponsoring teacher is Mr. Steele.

klika

To Jack Klika, one of 8 FCPS students who competed in Orlando at the USASF Dance Worlds representing the United States in an All Male Hip Hop team. There were 1900 athletes with over 500 teams representing 32 countries. Jack's team won the gold medal in their category making them world champions. These young men are dedicated to their sport and practice hard and it showed this weekend.

A Big Thank You...

Morning Attendance Calls

The morning attendance telephone calls, texts and e-mails for reporting student absences will not occur for middle and high schools during AP, IB and SOL testing from Monday, April 29, 2019 through Friday, June 7, 2019. Students involved in testing are often in designated testing sites within the school during the normal attendance-taking time, so morning attendance notifications will be suspended. The evening attendance notifications will remain in place.

SOL Season - Personal Electronic Devices are Prohibited

As SOL season is approaching, we want to remind families that electronic personal devices of any kind (phones, watches, etc.) are prohibited inside the SOL testing environment.  Please be aware that any personal devices carried into the testing environment will be subject to the school’s established procedures for addressing this as a test security concern.  In past instances, a student’s access to a personal device in the testing environment has been identified as attempted cheating, please help us ensure this doesn't happen! Let’s work together to create a positive testing environment for everyone.

Partners for Safe Teen Driving

The state of Virginia requires all 10th grade students and their parent/guardian to attend a 90-minute traffic safety program as part of the classroom driver education instruction. The dates for this year's presentations are:

  • May 8, 2019 (Cafeteria)

All programs will begin PROMPTLY at 7:00 pm.  There will be no admittance once the program has begun.  You are strongly encouraged to mark your calendar now and plan to attend.
