Senior Transition Program

Tuesday, April 30, 2019 @ 7:00 pm

The World is yours to Conquer" is what we tell our students as they embark on the next chapter of their life.

Our Seniors are graduating soon and we want to prepare them as much as possible.  Please join us for a program to assist with the transition from High School to College.  We will have speakers from a University to speak on college resources, campus police to speak on safety, and Wells Fargo to speak on financial matters.

Law Day

Special Guest Announced: May 1 Celebration of Law Day – Get Involved!

On May 1, Annandale High School will host the American Bar Association President and Annandale High School alumnus CNN’s Jim Acosta to celebrate Law Day 2019, the annual national event established in 1959 to recognize the Rule of Law. Law Day is on the FCPS Notable Events Calendar and is an important hands-on civics education opportunity. This year’s timely theme is #FreeSpeechFreePressFreeSociety.

What is Law Day? Watch this short video “Welcome to Law Day from ABA President Bob Carlson.

This school-wide, parent-supported activity features an Assembly from 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. (during W-4) and small group discussions with elected officials and national, state, and local legal community leaders. For more information, visit the ABA Division for Public Education website --Law Day K-12 Planning Guide.

Confirmed elected officials include Virginia Senators Dick Saslaw and Dave Marsden, Supervisor Penny Gross, and School Board members Sandy Evans and Karen Keys-Gamarra.

Join Ms. Evans at the School Board’s April 25 meeting (starting at 7:00 p.m.) when she introduces a Law Day resolution recognizing Annandale High School!

Get Involved! Teachers, students, and parents are involved in planning and making this event a meaningful opportunity for our students and our school. If you would like to volunteer, please email parent leaders Julie Strandlie (Lemens) julie@strandlie-advocacy.com and Terry Adams @ tadams@adamslawpllc.com

This is the first time EVER that the American Bar Association has visited a high school to celebrate Law Day, and ABA leadership chose Annandale! Go Atoms!
