Our flag bearers for Boosterthon leading the way!
Dear Villa Parents and Community,
With April and spring finally here, we are already looking ahead to next year. While we look at class placements for the coming year, we want you to be aware of the process. We place students in classrooms based on numerous criteria. Students are grouped so that classrooms are heterogeneous, having a balance of boys and girls, a balance of academic performance and ability, and groups that will allow for the greatest support from our resource teachers.
Classroom teachers will have input into the recommendations for next year, as will our counselors and specialists. Our staff has been told that we will not take requests for particular teachers because we base our placement on instructional criteria and individual student strengths and needs. It is unfair to give special consideration to some parents when it would be impossible to grant requests from all parents. Please be aware that grade level assignments for staff sometimes change, due to late enrollments or other changes. Staff assignments are determined at the end of the summer. Our staff has been directed not to give out information about placement prior to that time. Children and parents are disappointed when changes must be made due to staffing issues.
In addition, we also value parent input. If you feel there is pertinent information to support your child’s success for the upcoming school year, you may email me at drgerstner@fcps.edu and/or complete the form that was sent home in your child’s Tuesday folder. Emails and/or the class placement parent input forms are due by May 17th.
Best,
Dave Gerstner

PTA MEETING TONIGHT
April 23 at 7:00pm in the Library
Because of other events occurring in the county, April’s PTA meeting has been moved to Tuesday, April 23. We will be talking about planning for next year and new leadership. Please plan to attend!
PTA SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
We have had a wonderful time. The current PTA Board will be finishing up their 2-year terms at the end of this school year. Per current Bylaws, the board cannot be re-elected to their current positions. We are looking for new board members. If you are interested, please let us know as soon as possible. It is very rewarding. The PTA MUST have a President, Treasurer and Secretary in order to operate. We would be happy to give you more information or answer any questions you might have. Please contact us at villapta@gmail.com.
If there is no PTA, then there are no after school classes, Fall Festivals, Bingo Nights, etc. The current board will still be very active participants in the PTA. We are a fantastic resource for anyone who wants to make a difference at Fairfax Villa!
AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Spring After School classes have started! Please remind your child to say after school if they are participating.

SUPPORTING THE PTA
There are three ways you can support the PTA. 1. Join the PTA! When you join the PTA, you become an advocate for your child and every other Villa student. We normally meet the third Wednesday of the month and many times will have guest speakers or other programs as well. PTA Membership forms will be in your student’s Tuesday folder. You can also join online at http://villapta.ptboard.com. The school code is DRAPTE. 2. Donate! Any amount given is helpful and it all goes into benefits and services that benefit the Villa staff and students. 3. Volunteer! Volunteering is NOT required but it is always greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact us at villapta@gmail.com
