GBW Principal's Message - April 25

Office Staff

The Office Staff at Greenbriar West is AWESOME!

In honor of Office Staff Appreciation Week, we wanted to say a hearty “THANK YOU” to our office staff, who are the first friendly faces of our school and provide a multitude of services and supports to our school community. We also want to say THANKS to our Health Room Aide for all of her support, and caring for our students. These ladies are the glue that keeps us together.  They.  Are.  Awesome!!!!

GBW's Annual College Day- Friday, April 26th

College Day

GBW will join the Chantilly Pyramid in celebrating “College Day” on Friday, April 26, 2019. GBW teachers and staff will proudly share their college experiences with their students. We are encouraging students to wear college shirts or colors from a favorite college/university. Our goal is to start the college conversation with our students and encourage them to keep an eye on the future. Our sixth graders will be visited by CHS seniors, who will talk about how they prepared themselves to be “college ready.”

Here are some reasons why FCPS supports “College Day.”

  • College graduates earn about $1,648 more each month, on average, than someone with a high school diploma.
  • The earlier a child learns about college, and believes he/she can go, the more likely it is that the child will go to college.
  • Fairfax County Public Schools has programs to help students who are the first in their family to go to college, or need help affording college.

We aim to help our students create a vision for their future career paths!

May is almost here and the time has come to show all of our Teachers and Staff just how much we appreciate them.  At GBW we have a very unique experience for our children.  With so many different International Cultures present in our school our children have a great opportunity to learn from their teachers and from one another. With this in mind, this year the PTA would like to host an International Theme luncheon for the Teachers and Staff on Tuesday, May 7.  Please consider signing up here to contribute a dish to the luncheon.
