Community Loss

Dear West Potomac Family and Community

I am deeply saddened to report to you the unexpected death of  Sammy Robinson, a senior at West Potomac High School.  Sammy passed away on Thursday. Sammy was an outstanding member of the West Potomac community, a passionate Wolverine wrestler, and well-liked by all who knew him.  He will be greatly missed by our school community.

I have been in contact with the Robinson family to offer our condolences and support.  Sammy’s parents, Clint and Rachel, along with his brother, William, have allowed me to share the news of his passing with you so that you may be prepared to support your children.  We will take every step we can to be responsive to the needs of our students and their families.  Today, our counselors along with an FCPS crisis team are available to meet with any students or staff who need support in processing this news.

Understanding death, especially the death of a classmate, can be a very difficult experience.  For that reason, we hope that you will listen to your son or daughter as well as discuss with them their feelings and reactions to our loss within the West Potomac family.  Please keep us informed if there are ways we can support you.
