I am pleased to announce that Amanda Dorr is our new assistant principal at Floris Elementary. Mrs. Dorr has been acting assistant principal for the past three months and has quickly built relationships with staff, students and families. Mrs. Dorr is thrilled to be officially joining our Floris family.
She was born and raised in West Virginia and moved to the Northern Virginia area fourteen years ago. Mrs. Dorr began working with Fairfax County Public Schools in 2004, serving in various roles such as: Employment Transition Representative, a high school and middle school special education teacher- math and science, and as an ESY DHOH teacher and administrator. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Fairmont State College, a master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling from WVU, a master’s in special education from GMU, and recently finished her Administrative Certificate through ACC/UVA.
Some personal things about Mrs. Dorr: She has two children, Julian (9) and Jamison (6), husband Carl, and two fur babies Nala and Jack. She and her family enjoy swimming, going for walks/runs, and fishing. She is fluent in sign language and loves crafting. Organizing spaces and event planning are Mrs. Dorr’s hobbies.
