Explanation of events and activities
Star Picture Assignment (Primary) - Students will draw a picture about “What it means to be a military child”. Star Writing Assignment (Upper) - Students will write a story or a poem about “What it means to be a military child”. Autism Awareness Wall (Primary)- Students will decorate puzzle pieces to create a path way that leads to the Autism Awareness Banner, created by the autism program on campus. “Strength Team” Assembly (Upper) - Students will enjoy an assembly Purple Up for campus photo. All students should wear purple or white shirts Autism Breakfast (Upper) - Students in the autism classroom will serve breakfast to their parents to show their appreciation.

April 22nd - YOU are our Heroes - Wear something superhero! April 23rd - Proud to be an American – Wear Red, White and Blue! April 24th - Camo Day - Represent your branch! April 25th - Children of the World - Wear something that represents your favorite place you’ve lived! April 26th - Squad Day -Twins, Triplets, Quadruplets, etc. If in doubt, just wear FBES spirit wear. You will definitely have a squad.
2019 Family Engagement Survey Reminder

We value your opinion so much that we are sending out a special reminder for you to complete the FCPS Family Engagement Survey.
On March 24th, you will received an FCPS Family Engagement Survey! Please complete the survey letting us know how we are doing in the areas of: • communicating, • providing you opportunities to partner, • developing positive relationships, • ensuring student success and more.
The information we learn from you will help us strengthen family engagement and continue fostering a Caring Culture throughout FCPS.
There are 3 ways you can complete the survey:
1. Check your email for an invitation with a survey link from Dr. Scott Brabrand, Superintendent, with the subject line: FCPS Family Engagement Survey. 2. Ask our front office staff for a paper survey. You can complete it right there on the spot. 3. Complete the online survey using one of the school iPads or computers. The office staff would be happy to show you an available computer for you to complete the survey electronically at the school.

Operation Special Education
For parents of students with special needs
Thursday, April 25th 4:30-7:15pm Fort Belvoir Upper School
This event is for parents of school-age and pre-school-aged children with Special Needs. Dinner will be served from 4:30-4:45pm.
Event registration can be completed online.

SOL TESTING - May 7th - June 5th
Students in grades 3-6 will be taking the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) Tests between May 7th and June 5th. A letter will be coming home that details specific dates for grade-level testing.
It is important that your child attend school on these days. If possible, please avoid scheduling trips or appointments that would take your child out of school during this time period. It is also important that your child have a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast before testing.

Strings Spring Concert Wednesday, May 1st
**Concerts will be held in Fort Belvoir Upper School Cafeteria** 6:30pm - Grade 4 (Arrive by 6:00pm) 7:15pm - Grade 5/6 (Arrive by 6:45pm)
* Please have students wear black pants/skirt, white shirt, and black shoes /socks. * Student need to bring their instruments and music to school on Tuesday, April 30th to leave overnight.

Fort Belvoir Primary and Fort Belvoir Upper are still on the hunt for great substitute teachers and substitute instructional assistants! We love working with our military spouses in this capacity, as they already have clearance to be on the installation, and they understand and love our kiddos. If YOU would like to positively impact student learning at our schools, PLEASE fill out an application to substitute teach here at Fort Belvoir Primary and Fort Belvoir Upper. We need you!
