Helping Our School and School Wildlife

dinan

Student’s in Ms. Dinan’s class happily planted their sunflowers in our Outdoor Classroom. We are learning about biodiversity as well as plant and animal interdependence. Way to go, scientists! ~ Miss Pivarnik

Lost & Found

We have quite a collection of LOST items in our Lost & Found--shirts, sweaters, jackets, hats, etc. If your child is missing something, please feel free to stop by and check our Lost and Found buckets in the cafeteria.

Blizzard Buddies

BBuddies

This past Saturday, Christy Slone, our adapted PE teacher, and Olivia Yellen, our school social worker were presenters at the FCPS Special Education Conference. They presented on Lees Corner’s Blizzard Buddies program. The photo is of the trifold that our 4th grade participants helped create. We are so proud of these students and what they do to make our school a more inclusive environment!

SOL Testing at Lees Corner

Students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 will take Standards of Learning (SOL) tests this spring. You may view Lees Corner's complete SOL Testing Schedule by clicking here or by going to the Lees Corner home page.

Please keep the testing schedule in mind as you schedule appointments and other events that may take your child out of school. Tests generally begin at about 9 a.m. each day so it is important for students to arrive to school on time. We will share more information about testing in the near future.

Author Visit & Book Orders

Attention students in grades K-2! Local author Sue Fliess will be visiting with students on April 30th! Mrs. Dunbar has been reading her books to students to get them excited for this special visit.  If you are interested in purchasing a SIGNED copy of one of her books, please see the attached order form.  Great news--the deadline for book orders has been extended to April 23rd.

Please email our librarian, Mrs. Dunbar, at ladunbar@fcps.edu with any questions.

College Day

The Chantilly Pyramid 8th Annual College Day will be Friday, April 26th! As we have done for the past 7 years, Lees Corner staff will be wearing college gear representing their alma mater and we invite students to join in with their favorite college wear too. Throughout the day, teachers and staff will talk about some of their experiences in choosing a school and highlights from their college years. We will also have Chantilly seniors coming back to speak with 5th and 6th graders at the end of the day.

Art Show

Congratulations to all of our student artists who had their work displayed at the Chantilly Pyramid Art Show!

Music Matters!

chorus

There were two special choral ensembles this spring in which our students participated. On February 27, sixteen of our 6th grade students participated in the Chantilly Pyramid Honors Choir. This audition-group consisted of students from the elementary schools in the Chantilly Pyramid. The other choral event was the All-County Choral Festival. This concert on March 30th featured over 900 singers from around the county and 8 singers from Lees Corner. Congratulations to all of these students for being selected for these ensembles and for doing a great job representing Lees Corner!
