3rd ANNUAL GALLERY WALK/MATH NIGHT
Thursday, April 11, from 6:00 pm -7:00 pm
- A food truck, Empanadas de Mendoza, will be selling delicious empanadas (5:45-7:00).
- From 6:00-6:30, see what games we use to teach children mathematics in an engaging, cooperative way. Also, enjoy a walk around the building to see displays of student work.
- At 6:30, Dr. Jamieson from the FCPS math office will speak to families in the library. He will talk about Math Workshop, how we teach math in FCPS. Childcare will be provided during Dr. Jamieson’s talk for students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 4.
We look forward to an evening of fun and learning. We hope to see you then!

This is an opportunity to share your thoughts on school communications and relationships, opportunities to participate, student success, and more.
FCPS is very interested in hearing what our families have to say, please take a few minutes and complete this short survey.
Your input will be used to strengthen family engagement and foster a Caring Culture as outlined in our Strategic Plan.
There are three ways to participate.
- Check your email from March 24 for an invitation with a survey link from Dr. Scott Brabrand, Superintendent with subject line: FCPS Family Engagement Survey.
- Ask the school’s main office staff for a paper survey. You can complete it right there on the spot.
- Complete the online survey using one of the school computers. The main office staff would be happy to show you an available computer for you to complete the survey electronically at the school.
The survey is open March 24 to April 12, and is offered in English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Urdu, Vietnamese, and Amharic.

6th GRADE MUSICAL
We are excited to begin work on our 6th grade musical showcase. We will be sending home rehearsal schedules soon with the students. Rehearsals are before school on select days from 8:15 am – 9:05 am. Thank you in advance for your support.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE PTA
We have had a wonderful time. The current PTA Board will be finishing up their 2-year terms at the end of this school year. Per current Bylaws, the board cannot be re-elected to their current positions. We are looking for new board members. If you are interested, please let us know as soon as possible. It is very rewarding. The PTA MUST have a President, Treasurer and Secretary in order to operate. We would be happy to give you more information or answer any questions you might have. If there is no PTA, then there are no after school classes, Fall Festivals, Bingo Nights, etc. The current board will still be very active participants in the PTA. We are a fantastic resource for anyone who wants to make a difference at Fairfax Villa!

Because of other events occurring in the county, April’s PTA meeting has been moved to Tuesday, April 23. We will be talking about planning for next year and new leadership. Please plan to attend!

The program this year is called MindSpark Mystery Lab, a science-infused mystery theme all about solving problems with character. This two-week, fitness-based fundraiser combines S.T.E.A.M. skills with character building. The students are LOVING the daily huddles with the Boosterthon team. Their enthusiasm is definitely infectious. The Fun Run is Thursday, April 11 and YOU are invited!!

There are three ways you can support the PTA. 1. Join the PTA! When you join the PTA, you become an advocate for your child and every other Villa student. We normally meet the third Wednesday of the month and many times will have guest speakers or other programs as well. PTA Membership forms will be in your student’s Tuesday folder.
