Cardinal's Message

Cardinal's Message

Dear Cunningham Park Friends and Families,

We have made it to the end of the 3rd quarter!  The students here at Cunningham Park are excited for the 4th quarter and for the spring weather to be in full effect.  This week was a busy week for our students and staff.  In second grade, students constructed 3D shapes during their geometry unit.  They had a great time creating different shapes and demonstrating their understanding of the concepts.  In first grade, students used M&Ms in math class to practice data analysis. The students had a SWEET time participating in this lesson.  We also welcomed our rising Kindergarteners, as the class of 2032 came to Cunningham Park for their kindergarten orientation.

If you haven’t heard, the city bus line that serves the Cunningham Park community has been restored!  This week Mayor Laurie DiRocco, Delegate Mark Keam, Board of Supervisors Chair Sharon Bulova, Supervisor Jeff McKay, Supervisor Cathy Hudgins, and coordinator of VOICE Pastor Austin Almaguer joined our own PTA President Tracy McCarty and CPES parent Angy Friedman for a ribbon cutting to kick off the new service.  Mr. Kemmerer was there to represent Cunningham Park and capture the moment in photos.

Connector bus 467 is in full service.  All rides are free on this bus line until April 30th.  Please utilize this great resource that many members of our community worked tirelessly to make a reality.  We are so excited to have access to this new bus!

Have a great weekend and we’ll see you next week in the 4th quarter.

Sincerely,

Katie Le, Principal and Jon Kemmerer, Assistant Principal

Upcoming P2 Focus: Being Present and Giving Others My Attention

It’s vitally important that we pick our heads up from our cell phones and truly listen to other people when they’re talking. A positive culture is built with positive relationships – and we can’t build positive relationships without attention. So, the answer is clear: we need to pay attention to people in our lives. That’s going to be good for individuals, small groups, and large societies. -Positivity Project
