WEEK 28: Other People Matter Mindset – Being Present and Giving Others My Attention
Next week Deer Park students will have opportunities to see what it means to be focused on the here and now. Students will learn the importance of focusing on other people and how it helps build strong relationships. This is especially helpful to all of us as we know how easy it is to get distracted by our electronics and the ongoing demands of life.

Family Engagement Survey Reminder
We value your opinion so much that we are sending out a special reminder for you to complete the FCPS Family Engagement Survey.
On March 24th, you received an FCPS Family Engagement Survey!
Please complete the survey letting us know how we are doing in the areas of
- communicating,
- providing you opportunities to partner,
- developing positive relationships,
- ensuring student success and more.
The information we learn from you will help us strengthen family engagement and continue fostering a Caring Culture throughout FCPS.
There are 3 ways you can complete the survey.
- Check your email for an invitation sent with a survey link from Dr. Scott Brabrand, Superintendent with subject line: FCPS Family Engagement Survey.
- Ask the front office staff for a paper survey. You can complete it right there on the spot.
- Complete the online survey using one of the school iPads or computers. The office staff would be happy to show you an available computer for you to complete the survey electronically at the school.

Open Library & Family Celebration Night is April 10th
Come enjoy our last open library night for this school year and our FIRST Family Celebration Night on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Deer Park Library, Kindergarten Pod, and Language Arts room. We will celebrate all that is special about our Deer Park families with favorite finger foods donated by parents, crafts from around the world to make in the library, books from around the world, and demonstrations of Tae Kwon Do and possibly a dance group in the kindergarten pod. Questions contact Erin Stamp at emstamp@fcps.edu. We would love to have you join us! The PTA meeting will follow this event and will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Westfield Pyramid Art Show
Please join the Visual Arts Faculty in the Westfield Pyramid for our Annual Pyramid Art Show! On April 10th from 6:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m., Westfield High School will host our Pyramid Elementary and Middle School student artists in an exhibition of their creations in the Gymnasium. Our Opening Reception is a super popular event and the show is shaping up to be the best yet! We will have a few fundraising opportunities at the show and Kona Ice and Golly Waffles will be here for your snacking pleasure, so bring a few dollars with you!
An Awards Ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. Each year, the Fine Arts Department at Westfield (with cooperation from our Westfield Business Owners Association) fundraises so that we can offer $1000 worth of scholarships to our student artists. Deer Park Elementary Summer Camp
This summer, we will offer weekly summer camps at Deer Park! For only $99 per week, your student can attend an Overtime Athletics Camp, one of the premiere summer camps in Northern Virginia right here at Deer Park!!

Box Top Contest for the Spring!
The class with the most box tops submissions, wins an ice cream social!
The highest student contributor wins the class the chance to silly string the principal!
Submit all unexpired box tops by May 15th with student's name, class, and grade!
So far, we have raised $789.50 this year with Box Tops! That is 70% higher than last year's submission! Thank you for all your support!
