A Message from Principal Marsha Manning
Dear South County Community:
After serving 29 years in FCPS, and 15 years in the South County community, it is time for me to retire at the end of this school year.
I have been blessed to have my dreams of opening two schools, South County Secondary in 2005 as an Assistant Principal, and South County Middle in 2012 as Principal, come true. I am grateful to Dale Rumberger and Dr. Frances Ivey for these exceptional opportunities.
Working with the South County community has been a pleasure and a privilege. I appreciate and am thankful for your trust, support, kind words, contributions, and sense of community that have built these excellent schools and established a culture where our students feel Capable, Connected, and Contributing to our South County family.
It has been an honor to work alongside a staff of outstanding talented, professional, and compassionate educators who have inspired me and created our SCMS family. Together we have celebrated the joys of seeing the smiles on the faces of our students and watching as they grow to become self-advocates for their academic achievement and success. Thank you for your caring, enthusiasm, and energy you bring to SCMS everyday. I have been so proud to share this journey with you.
Finally, I want to thank our students for your ingenuity, excitement, fun, relationships, and contributions to SCMS. It has been our mission and our reward to encourage your progress from pre-adolescents to young adults as you move on to high school. I will miss the joys of watching and celebrating your growth and success, and I will take those memories with me.
The Region 4 Office and FCPS Human Resources Department will begin the principal search process in the next few weeks with the goal of having a new principal in place July 1, 2019.
Thank you all for these amazing experiences and the memories I will forever treasure. I wish you and the South County Community the best.
Sincerely,
Marsha D. Manning
Principal
