 Dear GFES Families,
As we enter into our final quarter, I want to take a minute to share with you our school's mission and vision statements:
Our Mission
Our mission as a school community is to educate each student to become a responsible, caring individual who learns to learn and loves to learn. We do this by creating opportunities for students to explore, think critically, collaborate, and problem solve in an environment of awareness of respect for self and others. We do this so that our students are empowered to become lifelong learners and strong ethical citizens who positively impact their school and community.
The community of learners of Great Falls Elementary School envisions a diverse community of learners working together to achieve their limitless potential as moral, conscientious citizens.
- Students will develop an awareness of community resources and how they can make a difference within that community.
- Students will develop a sense of purpose and an awareness of societal responsibility.
- Students will be sensitive to individual differences.
- Students will accept diversity.
- Students, parents, and staff will collaboratively be accountable for high achievement in the classroom and within the community.
As a staff, we review these statements as they are descriptions of what we would like to achieve or accomplish and are intended to serves as clear guides for choosing current and future courses of action. I share this with you so you join us by reinforcing these goals at home as well.
Thank you! Sara Harper
Class Placement Survey
We would like your input as we begin the task of determining class placements for the next school year. Soon, our staff will work collaboratively to begin planning teacher and student assignments for next year. We would like you to assist us in determining class placement by sharing your insights about your child through our google form located here.
Please note:
- All comments should be positive. These forms will be shared with all school staff as we work to create class groupings.
- Due to constant changes in personnel, we will not accept requests for specific teachers; this includes hints that reference specific teachers.
- While it’s helpful to share names of your child’s friends, remember that assigning a child to be with all of their friends cannot be our highest priority.
- If you prefer, handwritten forms will also be accepted. Please print, then enclose the form in a sealed envelope and submit to the front office.
- The deadline for any correspondence regarding the upcoming school year is Friday, May 17.
Although we have much more to accomplish this academic year, it is very exciting to prepare for the new school year! We look forward to another successful and collaborative effort between the GFES staff, students, and community.

SOL Testing - Device Policy Use Information
With the SOL tests a few weeks away, it is important for parents to understand the importance of the cell phone/electronic device policy within a testing environment. Any personal devices carried into the testing environment will be subject to the school’s established procedures for addressing this as a test security concern. We do our best to ensure that all student devices are turned off and stored away during a time of testing. If you have any questions about our school’s cell phone/electronic device policy please contact Christopher Litz, Assistant Principal.
