6th grade All County Chorus

Administrator Avenue

Dear Fairhill Families,

Can you believe it’s April? Time has gone by so fast.

A special shout out to our 6th grade All County Chorus students and Mr. Ikner for a job well done. You all made us so proud. Bravo!

Another shout out to Mrs. Schwartz for putting together our first annual Career Fair. Staff, students and parents all agreed that it was amazing. Students seemed to be truly engrossed in what presenters had to share.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our Staff Basketball Game, PTA BINGO Night, Math Night and our SCA Movie Night. We have had plenty of time to come together as a family and it has been great!

The weather is still unpredictable, and we encourage our students to dress in layers as we continue to enjoy recess inside and outside. A couple of reminders: make sure your child's name is in all jackets and/or sweatshirts, and have your child check our overflowing Lost and Found for misplaced and forgotten items.

Have you heard about our Rain Garden? We are planting a rain garden around the rear storm drain by our playground on April 30 with the assistance of Fairfax County Stormwater and their R3 Program (Revitalize, Restore, Replant).  They (Stormwater) are providing the native plants and will be on site to work with the 5th graders who will be doing the actual planting.  Friends of Accotink Creek will also be conducting a watershed educational session in the schoolyard that day as well. We are still in need of a carpenter to construct a couple of rows of permanent bench seating around the garden to function as an outdoor classroom and to modify the circulation routes for our students so they don’t run through the planting area.

Do you know anyone who may be able to assist? Please email Fairhill parent Joe Hirz at joehirz@cox.net for more information.

We have a couple of events coming up that we are super excited about and need your help with spreading the word!

TONIGHT: Literacy Night and Book Fair, 6:00 PM

April 5th: Kindergarten Orientation, 9:00 AM, NO School for Students

We look forward to seeing everyone next Wednesday, April 10th for our monthly PTA meeting.

As always, we are a team! Have a question or a concern? Email us or call using the contact info below!

Warmly,

Mrs. Hunstad and Mrs. Korb

News from the PTA

The PTA Needs YOU!

Next years' PTA Board and Leadership positions are beginning to come together.  Elections will be held in just under two months at our May 9th PTA meeting (please come!)  We need a few more dedicated volunteers to fill some gaps that we have to keep the PTA going strong next year.  Please consider one of these roles and reach out to Angie Roeder at president@fairhillpta.org if you have questions or would like further details.

The current positions we are looking to fill are:

President Elect

Before/After School Enrichment Program Coordinator

Fall Festival Coordinator

Box Tops for Education Coordinator
