Leprechaun Chase Appreciation
“That was amazing!”
“We can’t wait until next year.”
|
“It was the best event that I have attended at Willow Springs in the 16 years that I have had students at this school.”
These were some of the wonderful quotes that we heard following the completion of our first ever Leprechaun Chase. Despite threatening weather reports, our families came out in full force to chase our fabulous Leprechaun, complete obstacles and learn about other wellness opportunities from some of our dedicated sponsors. We have so many people that we would like to thank for helping to make the evening so successful for our families. First, we would like to thank our sponsors:
The Laconia Group, FXA Adult Sports, Contemporary Dentistry of Centreville, Taekwondo In Action, Cheron Orthodontics, Center Stage Dance, Jim McKay Chevrolet, Smart Snackz Ready to Eat Meals – Home Delivery, Aqua-Tots Swim School, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Michael & Son Services, Mathnasium Fairfax and Herndon, Aim High Youth Football, Wegmans Fairfax, Giant Food Colonnade at Union Mill, Home Depot Fairfax Circle, I Love Kickboxing, Overtime Athletics, i9, NVVA and First Tee.
We would also like to extend our sincerest appreciation to our PE teachers for creating such a fun obstacle course, all our faculty members that advertised and volunteered for the event, our Leprechaun, Willow, Fairfax County Police Department, Church of the Apostles, all our adult and student volunteers, and everyone who participated in the run. Additionally, we want to thank Heather Regan for everything she did to make this evening possible. Her attention to detail and dedication to making this event memorable for our families went above and beyond anything we could have imagined. Thank you, Heather!!!
Join Us for the Annual Pyramid Art Show
Students and families are invited to our annual “Pyramid Art Show” which will exhibit student art work from all grade levels that feed into Fairfax High School (K-12). The Pyramid Art Show will take place at Fairfax High on Thursday, March 28th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be: one man shows, demonstrations, a craft table, food trucks, a scavenger hunt, and certificates for those artists that have their artwork featured in the show. Look for a personal invitation coming home the week of 3/18-3/22 if your child’s artwork will be on display. We have so many amazing artists here at Willow Springs. Come see what our students can do!
WSES Spirit Night
Let’s fill the Centreville High School Gym with blue and green to support our school and all of the amazing faculty that give of themselves so freely to make our school one of the best!!
Are you going to be cheering for Team Foxes or Team Willows? Blue or Green? On Thursday, April 4th, we will be hosting our annual Spirit Night at Centreville High School where Team Foxes, coached by Mr. Campen, will take on Team Willow, coached by Mr. Taylor. In addition to a great game of basketball, spectators will enjoy our very own Fox Ensemble kicking off the festivities by performing our National Anthem followed by halftime entertainment from our Jump Rope Team and Zumba Club. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $3.00; Spirit wear, food, and drinks will be available for purchase. We have limited square readers available for credit card transactions, so in order to ensure the lines move quickly, cash transactions are preferred.

Nominating Committee for 2019-2020 PTA Board
Would you like an opportunity to help shape the PTA Board for next year? Do you know of someone that would make a great addition to our team? We have several board positions that will be vacant at the end of this school year, and we would appreciate your help in finding dedicated individuals that would like an opportunity to join us. If you are interested in being a part of the Nominating Committee, please e-mail me at president@willowspringspta.net. We need three volunteers to form the committee by our next PTA Meeting on Wednesday, April 3rd.
Silent Auction Donation Request
Plans are already underway for one of our most significant fundraising events of the year – the Willow Springs 22nd Annual Silent Auction! The Silent Auction will take place from April 26th to May 3rd and will be entirely online.
Do you have a small business and want to donate to the auction? Willow Springs PTA loves to support local businesses, and your contributions would be tax deductible.
Please contact Nayyiara Siddiqui at willowspringssa@gmail.com for more details! Even if you don’t have a company or goods to donate, but would like to help find donors or have connections to businesses that may wish to contribute, we would love to hear from you. Last year the Willow Springs Silent Auction brought in over $8,000 for the PTA, and we hope to beat that number this year. Any assistance that you can provide would be sincerely appreciated.
World Festival
Our big event is planned for Friday, May 10th at 6:00 p.m.
Our World Festival planners need your help! They are looking for families (or groups of families) to sponsor booths from all of the diverse countries our students represent. If you or your child are interested in hosting a booth, dancing, participating in the fashion show, singing, or would like additional information, please sign up before Friday, March 29th.
We can't wait to see everyone at the event! For any questions, please email Anshul Misra & Sonia Sethi at worldfestival@willowspringspta.net.

SOL tests measure the extent to which students have learned the content and skills specified in the Virginia SOLs. In order to assist your spring planning, the SOL schedule is listed below. Please avoid appointments that will take your child out of school during testing. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
